Sarah Pleininthal became embroiled with the Japanese Beetle when he asked her out in an attempt to make her roommate, Asashi Suzuki, jealous. Sarah saw through Ken's scheme and quickly turned it against him by hiring a muscular male model to pose as Asashi's date. Her strategy backfired, however, because Ken became enamored of her when he discovered her cunning deception.

Soon afterwards, the bank where Sarah worked was held up by Multifacet, the Neapolitan Man. Sarah was taken hostage by the supervillain and his gang, but was rescued through the prompt action of the Japanese Beetle. Much to the Beetle's disappointment, his heroic rescue did not change Sarah's opinion toward him one bit.

Sarah Pleininthal currently shares an apartment in Skyline City Asashi Suzuki and Kremlina Stalinova.
