This is one of the very best movies of all time. I'm an impatient man so I can sympathize with anyone who thinks it's too slow. I can't remember if it grabbed me all at once or if I had to see it a couple of times for it to sink in. I do remember that I knew it was powerful the first time I saw it. Also, the Ennio Morriconne score is one of his best, perhaps the most haunting of his career. Absolutely... more

Norman Jewison (In the Heat of the Night, Moonstruck) directs this taut exploration of back-room gaming, building suspense with each
WOW. If you like movies with real stars and not the current flavor of the month plastic surgery specials playing the title roles, this one is for you. Steve McQueen was perfect as the hungary kid on the way up. Ann-Margret was a babe (and sexy as all get out) as was Tuesday Weld. Edward G Robinson plays "The Man" as the smooth card shark--a gangster at the card table. And, of course, Karl Malden... more

| | 4. The Five Pennies |
| Starring: Danny Kaye, Barbara Bel Geddes, Louis Armstrong, Harry Guardino, Bob Crosby Directed By: Melville Shavelson December 13, 2005
Danny Kaye in one of his less hectic roles. Based on the life of Red Nichols a band leader from the 30's and 40's. I don't know how much of the story is accurate but it is fun to watch and there is lots of great music in it. I bought the album years ago and listened to it often so I was glad to be able to get the film and watch it again.
If you like music and biography give it a try... more

| | 6. Wild in the Country |
| Starring: Elvis Presley, Hope Lange, Tuesday Weld, Millie Perkins, Rafer Johnson Directed By: Philip Dunne August 13, 2002
I haven't seen this movie in years. I am so glad I bought it. This movie was one of the very few that I didn't have on DVD. I felt like it was completely different from his other movies. Although I consider King Creole as his best acting, Elvis was amazing in his part as Glen. Just think what he could have done if he hadn't made some of his later movies. I love Blue Hawaii, G.I. Blues, Girls, Girls... more

| | 7. Soldier in the Rain |
| Starring: Jackie Gleason, Steve Mcqueen, Tuesday Weld, Tony Bill, Tom Poston Directed By: Ralph Nelson August 04, 2009
Soldier in the Rain is an excellent film I just recently heard about through my boss. This little known film captures many of the military nuances and tells a great story about the comraderie as well as rivalries within the brances of service. Pairing Gleason and McQueen seemed to be an odd idea however, this worked very well for the film. It was interesting seeing Tom Poston as a Lt. Very nice film... more

| | 8. I Walk the Line |
| Starring: Gregory Peck, Tuesday Weld, Estelle Parsons, Ralph Meeker, Lonny Chapman Directed By: John Frankenheimer March 07, 2006
This excellent film was released theatrically in 1970 by Columbia Pictures with a MPAA PG rating. Why was this title re-submitted for a new rating by the MPAA in the year 2006 for the DVD version and received a harsher PG-13? What exactly caused the change in the rating after so many years? The content is certainly tame today. I would think it would STILL be rated PG. Or is this title similiar to the... more

| | 9. Serial |
| Starring: Martin Mull, Tuesday Weld, Christopher Lee, Tom Smothers, Sally Kellerman July 01, 2008
Features:- Harvey Holroyd (Martin Mull) is a Marin County resident who is surrounded by strangeness. His family, neighbors and co-workers all seem consumed by the fads and trends of 1980, and it's getting to be too much to take. Sex, drugs, psychobabble and health food - it's enough to drive anyone insane! Tuesday Weld, Christopher Lee and Tommy Smothers help make up a wacky all-star cast. Serial is
Of course a comedy mocking Marin County in the 1970s is bound to aggravate the progressives, but that's EXACTLY what it set out to do. It was, after all, based on McFadden's sarcastic and mocking book of (about) the same name. But beyond the loony charicatures (and they abound), the writing snaps and the dialogue is pitch-perfect. I'll just give one short example: When Harvy Oldroyd (Martin Mull) goes... more
