| 1. Emma (A&E, 1997) |
| Starring: Kate Beckinsale, Bernard Hepton, Mark Strong, Samantha Bond, James Hazeldine Directed By: Diarmuid Lawrence October 26, 1999
The Hollywood "Emma" starring Gwyneth Paltrow was a total disaster, the director having decided Jane Austen was a "cute" writer whose novel therefore deserved a relentlessly "cute" treatment. This BBC version gets it pretty much right, especially in its presentation of an older Mr. Knightley, a choice that preserves the novel's surprise when he turns out to be the hero. Kate Beckinsale is a perfect... more

| | 2. Pink Floyd - The Wall 25th Anniversary (Deluxe Edition) |
| Starring: Bob Geldof, Christine Hargreaves, James Laurenson, Eleanor David, Kevin McKeon Directed By: Alan Parker January 25, 2005
Ridiculous amateur attempt at filmmaking. The film is so bad it ruined listening to Pink Floyd for me for YEARS. You would have to be pretty weak minded to think this movie is groundbreaking, deep, or powerful. Maybe if your normal fare is Cheech and Chong, this would seem like a really intelligent piece of art. I wonder if Bob Geldof ever thinks about all the good things that could have been done... more

| Starring: Joan Hickson, Paul Eddington, Cheryl Campbell, Polly Adams, Tara MacGowran Directed By: David Tucker, Julian Amyes, Mary McMurray, Norman Stone, Roy Boulting January 02, 2002
Joan Hickson is by far the best actor to play Miss Marple. She plays the part as it is depicted in the books. None of the others so far has... more

I love the series and truly enjoyed every episode, which is why I ordered the entire series. I highly recommend the series for any fan of mysteries, especially British ones. Intelligent dialogue, scenic locations and the developing respect and admiration between the two lead characters make this a show worth viewing. The four episodes contain a mix of darkness and wry humor. Series 2 does... more

| Starring: James Hazeldine, Louise Jameson, Cyril Luckham, John Carlisle Directed By: Eric Davidson, Fiona Cumming, Gerald Blake (II), Ken Grieve, Kenny McBain May 02, 2006
This is a little seen show, but don't let that obscurity keep you from checking this DVD out. It contains all ten episodes of the series, but also contains a documentary on the show, called "Inside the Omega Factor". There's also a cool 16 page booklet, that is more than the typical 'bare bones episode list' that studios typically include. It's basically an essay by Marcus Hearn that chronicles... more

| Starring: David Morrissey, Spencer Leigh, James Hazeldine, Ian Hart, Michael Lannington Directed By: Gordon Flemyng
25+ years and I still remembered this series from when I lived in the UK. I was only 13 then. I was so happy to find this dvd. I had to also order a dvd player that I could hack the region codes to play this, but it was totally worth it. The series was exactly as I remembered. The acting was superb. The characters are so well written... more
