Album Description: Culminated from Sarah McLachlan's illustrious recording career, the Rarities, B-Sides And Other Stuff, Volume 2 collection contains Sarah McLachlan material never before available before on one CD. The collection includes live performances, rare recordings, remixes and soundtrack contributions. In addition, the album includes exceptional, one of a kind duets with Bryan Adams, Cyndi Lauper, Emmylou Harris, and more! Billboard magazine raved about the album calling it "a real beauty."
If you love Sarah, you will LOVE this! I was not a fan of her rarities volume 1 album. However, I am very pleased to have ONE CD with many of her songs that are found on movie soundtracks. This CD is easy to listen too. Sometimes when you listen to a CD it seems that the songs don't flow very well together. For example, her latest Christmas CD. However, this album flows really well despite some of the "different" type songs found on it. It's nice to hear her branch out into different musical styles as well making this CD less monotonous to listen too. I really enjoy "Pills" which I hadn't heard before and I also love the Prayer of St. Francis. Those seem new to me since I haven't heard them. I would have liked to see "What is this love" by Blue Rodeo, or Sad Lisa with Phish on this album. However, like everyone else I am anxiously awaiting new material but this will tide me over until then.
Nice as a gift CD This CD is a nice sampling of music from various genres and vocalists, all of it strong in its representation. It makes a nice gift for McLachlan fans who may have her other mainstream CD's.
Sarah's yet another rarities CD Having been a true fan of the Canadian chanteuse, I wholeheartedly embraced this compilation. The duets being the best tracks , I sat as Ordinary Miracle blew me away with its idealistic hope and When She Loved Me gave me goose bumps and tears. The participation of Lady Smith Black Mambazo gives the record a world music twist easily digested.Overall, a fantastic journey.
Beautiful music This is an outstanding CD! I have most of Sarah McLachlan's CDs and this one did not disappoint me. Her version of Blackbird and the collaboration with Cyndi Lauper on Time After Time are both outstanding. Also, the CD is mixed and recorded very well which is a rarity these days.
Great covers I like very much Sarah McLachlan. My girlfriend likes her too, but not that much. But yesterday we listened together to the whole album, and she was amazed by these new McLachlan tracks. They are fresh and new and different from everything we had listened before. There are great covers such as "Time after Time" (great and perfect duet with Cyndi Lauper), "Blackbird" and "Unchained Melody", to mention some. Sarah McLachlan demonstrates she is beyond melancholic ballads. She can rap and rave with her spiritual voice! Great album.
