Amazon.com:
Take three women in need of cash, a slew of money about to be shredded, and a plot that nicks a bit from 2005's Fun with Dick and Jane and you've got Mad Money. Diane Keaton stars as Bridget, a stay-at-home wife whose life as she knows it ends when her husband loses his cushy, high-paying job. Her college degree in literature turns out to be useless, so she accepts a janitorial position at the local bank. There she meets Nina (Queen Latifah) and Jackie (Katie Holmes), who could use some spare scratch as well. Suddenly, it dawns on Bridget that the bank has plenty of what they need: money! Because the gals are so cute and nice, it's clear they're not really going to rob the bank. What they will do, though, is take the old bills headed for the shredder and recycle it back into the economy by spending it. (Oh heck, they're basically stealing the money.) Played for laughs, the movie doesn't bother to discuss the economic ramifications of what would happen if too much money was recirculated, but that's neither here nor there. The trio of personable actors--particularly Keaton--does a good job of making the characters likable, even in some unbelievable situations. But Keaton deserves better than Mad Money, which isn't really funny enough to be a comedy and doesn't have enough romance to qualify as good chick flick. Still, Keaton, Latifah and Holmes share warm camaraderie. It'd be fun to see them reunited in a film that had a little more weight to it. Ironically, Mad Money was directed by directed by Callie Khouri, who wrote Thelma & Louise and Something to Talk About--movies that had all the key components (compelling storyline and characters worth cheering on) that Mad Money is lacking. --Jae-Ha Kim

5 out of 5 starsMad Money
What a great combination of actors. This is well put together. I really love it.

3 out of 5 starsIS THIS CALLED A TAX STIMULUS PACKAGE?
Some movies sound good on paper. They sound better as things fall into place. I mean take a woman who wrote THELMA AND LOUISE, actresses that have starred in a number of hot hit films, toss them together and you would expect something fantastic. Unfortunately that doesn't happen with MAD MONEY.

Admit it, it sounded good when you saw the previews. When you read about it you thought hey this could be nice. Be ready to be disappointed, but not overly so.

The movie stars Diane Keaton as Bridget Cardigan, a well to do wife whose husband Don (Ted Danson) has just lost his job. Worse yet, she discovers that they are in debt far above anything she could imagine and are about to lose everything. To get by, she searches for a job and ends up getting one as a janitor at the nearby Federal Reserve where they destroy old and used bills.

As she moves through the halls cleaning and wiping, told non stop by the bank's president Glover (Stephen Root) that they are watched at all times, she sees a weakness in the system that would allow a group to steal money from the bank unnoticed. But it will take more than one person to do so.

She enlists the aid of two other women at the bank. One is Nina (Queen Latifah), a single mother trying to raise her two children to do better and have more, who actually shreds the cash. The other is Jackie (Katie Holmes), an apparently air headed worker who transports the money in glass cases from point to point. Once these two are on board, the plan kicks in.

The girls get away with it, netting nearly $30,000 each the first time out. Keaton's home is saved, Latifah's kids get to go to the best school and Katie...well she gets to change a little. Danson protests what his wife is doing but resigns himself to the fact that it's taking care of the money problems they had. And Holme's hubby Bob (Adam Rothenberg) is more of an airhead than she even appears to be so he offers no complaints.

Things begin to change with the amount of money that they heist. The more they take, the more they want. And one plot point that makes no sense is after seeing them do things like pay off the house, pay to send the kids to school and buy a new motor home, they suddenly decide they shouldn't spend the money for fear of being caught. Hello? You just spent how many thousands already, why are you concerned now?

The latter part of the film deals with the girls near foul up at the bank and the realization that someone some where has caught on. Now it's about trying to avoid being caught. Toss in a romantic interest for Latifah in the form of bank guard Barry (24's Roger Cross) and you have a comedy that is light as a feather but with heart.

The only problem is that it feels like an hour long TV episode rather than a full fledged feature film. I kept looking at the clock thinking shouldn't this be over soon only to realize it had another hour to go.

The acting is there but little more. To me only Katie Holmes shined as the dingy chick who was smarter than anyone gives her credit for. Keaton and Latifah just move through the paces as good actors do, bringing nothing new to the screen.

Yes, this movie is an enjoyable one that will entertain. No, it is not a movie that will live on in the memories of millions nor garner praise from critics world wide. For fans of the three leads, for fans of movies where women are empowered, this movie is for you. For al others, expect something light and you'll walk away happy.

can somebody please, please tell me how to get the soundtrack from the movie Mad Money? Just saw the movie and loved it. When I go to Google, Yahoo, Amazon and put in "Soundtrack for Mad Money" all I get is info on the movie. Help please.

5 out of 5 starsDarn good movie
Not since Tootsie have I laughed so hard! Mad Money is the story of 3 women who, being in dire financial straits, decide to pull off the craziest heist of all by intercepting thousands of dollars in worn-out bills that are on their way to the shredder. The craziness that ensues made me laugh all through the entire movie.

2 out of 5 starsA mildly humorous wisp of a movie
Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes steal millions from the Fed. As the film opens they've been caught, and they're being questioned by the FBI. Flashback to how they did it. If this sounds familiar, it is. You've seen it before. These fine actresses turn in decent comic performances, but there's no suspense, and with the possible exception of Latifah, it's hard to care about the characters one way or the other. Wait for late night cable to see this one.
