So much Godzilla in one place, how can you resist? The original Japanese versions are priceless, the commentaries by Gozdziewski and Reifel are equally priceless. I wish they would do a similar treatment for ALL Kaiju movies, including Yongary, even if he is not Japanese. They can skip Gappa if they want.

If there is a downside, and it's a big if, it is that this set does NOT include King Kong Vs. Godzilla. Sure, KKvG is campy as hell and not in the league of some of the others, but being it is one of the very early Godzilla movies it deserves to be in the official canon. I guess they had to do some picking and choosing and decided to skip over KKvG. It is available as a stand-alone, but not in such a well done treatment with the original Japanese version.

But all in all it is great, and a great value to boot.

5 out of 5 starsgodzilla collection review
if you're looking for all the early Godzilla movies, this is the best bet. You will get all of the classics in outstanding quality. You get both the American and original Japanese version of the film. The box is awesome. The quality of the DVD cases are awesome too.

5 out of 5 starsBest "Starter" set for Godzilla fans
I got this set several months back. I've always like the "Godzilla" type movies and he is the King. The set is hands down a super bargine for anyone who enjoyed these Saturday movies. You get a nice box with most of the well knowns like "Mothra" and "Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster". Best of all is each disc has both American and Japaneese versions. The video on the Japaneese version is so much better. It's like comparing a DVD to VHS plus widescreen to boot.

5 out of 5 starsThe Supreme Godzilla Set
All the movies in this set have humongous improvements over the last time Classic Media did a box set. In this set you get
Godzilla,Godzilla Raids Again,Ghidorah the 3 headed monster,Monster Zero,Godzilla's Revenge and Terror of Mechagodzilla. Without going into all that detail about each movie, which many of you have seen or read something about , I will keep this brief and just good a basic overview,a general thought. All have both Japanese & USA versions, the transfers are just fantastic. Everything save for Godzilla & Godzilla Raids again are in letterbox format. A great set, great packaging. Yes this was a double dip for those of us who bought these earlier separately but I wanted the box so I made some trades and made some money so I could get the box. This highly recommended :)

5 out of 5 starsMediocre
Godzilla is a good film for the whole family to enjoy. The lack of blood and gore make it suitable for the young'uns (though you may want to tell them not to say some of those naughty little words) straight up to the elderly. As for the film itself, what kept it from being a classic monster film and one that could be forgotten in a few years is the lack of intelligence of the people. To start, the poor old fisherman in the beginning he stands their so long waiting on godzilla to turn him into a fishersmear I thought he had died standing there with his hands on his face. The next example of sheer stupidity (the next example I'm going to tell you about, not the next example of unsmartness in the film by the way) is our nations army/air force, they did so many stupid things I thought it was a joke, for instance, at one point they had a group of men armed with M-16's,yes,you heard right,no,this is not a joke they had M-16's to fight a 300 foot tall monster they brought M-16's,why, those things barely work on people. Ok, the last bit of dumbness I will address, are our next country neighbors the frenchman, when Nick, and that french fella were trying to get clearance into the city, a guard stops and asks him, why they were there and who they were Nick talks to him instead of the French guy (when the French guy should have spoken by the way)the guard blows up at Nick because he's just a soldier and not a high ranking officer (he's actually neither but)anyway, the guard asks frenchie overhere could was something wrong with him and he says in a fake southern accent "Why, no sir." now my question is if he could fake an American accent why didn't he do it to begin with? I could go on and on but I won't. Oh one more thing if it sounds like I don't like the its not true I love the French. These French in Godzilla just didn't play intelligent parts. Cest'la vie(whatever that means)!
