works great - After numerous attempts to get Windows backup software to create a solid and reliable backup - I switched to Acronis on the suggestion of my IT guy and haven't regretted it for a minute. It's fast, reliable, easy to install. Why did I waste time with Windows Backup when this is so much better???
works half way Making backups is easy, using them is not. I restored my computer to a new hard drive which was great but what I wanted to do was clone my system to a new hard drive and adjust the partitions with more room for windows on c:. No go... after cloning 3 times all I got was a short message on a black screen that said operating system missing! So I restored it from a backup and then had to buy a partitioning program to adjust the partitions. I emailed acronis tech support on Aug 27 it is now Sept 30th and I have not heard anything from them. Their support team says not to send numerous emails as it will just slow down the support system. I don't know what they consider fast but this is not it.Acronis True Image 11 Home
Easy to Use and does what you want I just needed to back up a laptop and make an image of a freshly installed version of XP and drivers so that next time I needed to refresh and speed up my system it wouldn't take 6 hours to get it it tip-top shape. The program worked as expected.
Decent for scheduled backups, partition restore freezes I use this for nightly incremental backups and they seem to work well. I've restored a few files and it worked well. However, I lost my hard drive and attempted to restore the entire partition with the result that Acronis kept freezing after a few seconds into the restore.
It turns out that the Acronis software actually does the worst thing possible. It will backup files and actually restore some, but it hangs if it has to restore a lot of files. This means that a casual test of restoring a few dozen files works fine, but when you need to restore thousands it freezes.
Bottom line - this is an extremely dangerous product, you think you're backed up, but if you really need it, you're out of luck. Run away.
Excellent backup utility I've been using Acronis True Image Home since version 7, then upgraded to v9, and now v11. It works flawlessly with my Vista 64-bit system. I have never, ever had trouble backing up or restoring images made by this product - and it is really great to be able to extract individual files from an archived image when necessary.
