Album Description: Asia, featuring members of Yes, ELP and King Crimson, was the first "supergroup" of the eighties. Their eponymous debut album, released in 1982, was a huge success racking up global sales in excess of 15 million copies. In 2006 the original four members reunited for the first time in over 20 years for a series of concerts in the US and the UK. The success of this tour led to a full-blown world tour running throughout 2007 in celebration of their 25th anniversary. This CD was recorded in Tokyo in March 2007 on the Japanese leg of the tour. The companion DVD will be released in Fall 2007 on Eaglevision.
Surprised I have been an Asia original lineup fan for several years and both of their new recordings were quite a surprise. Songs are somewhat slower than original versions. Steve does a splendid job; guitar in 'Roundabout' sounds better than Yes 70's versions. Carl takes a step forward and is more audible than he used to be. Seems time has not affected Geoff in the least. Although John sings fine his voice denotes he may be tired at times. Artwork is beautiful. Recording and sound are good, not flawless.
Fantasia Live I purchased Fantsia Live in Tokyo double CD cause have LP's Viny of King Krimsom & Yes and Steve Howe has a reputation for being an excellent guitarist so bought Asia's first CD in Years Phoenix and wasn't disappointed and as for the double CD Live in Tokyo Good if you're a fan 3 and a half out of 5 .
The Return This is an excellent live album and captures the reformed group in stellar form. Asia were always about brilliant virtuoso playing and there's plenty of that on display here. Highly recommended.
Finally - a true live recording with the true Asia This is a good live album, coming from someone who doesn't really like live albums. They sound great and can tell they are enjoying the ride. Hope they stick around a while
Did not need any "non-Asia" songs....... Yes, we all know that members of this band were in several other bands over the years. We just didnt need 5 songs on this 2 disc set devoted to that fact. This would have been MUCH better with just Asia music.
