great! this phaser is even better than i expected it to be. i had gotten it for my dad for fathers day. he loved it, my little brother loved it (the top separates, just like in the show), and the sound variations are great! awesome toy.
Good reproduction, especially for the price. And fun. Not a Toy guy, but I needed a prop for Comic-Con, and I could not resist ;-)
This is a LOT of fun, and many of the reviews here outline the features.
This is not uip to the standards of a prop replica, but for $27, it should not be.
All of the knobs and buttons actually do something, and it is a pretty accurate representation of the original, so it would work well with a costume at Comic-Con.
Aiming the phaser at my Cat is fun, due to the emitted light from both the Phaser I and Phaser II.
Next item: The Communicator. Also looking forward to the Trek II Phaser at the end of the year from DST.
An Absolute Must for Any Star Trek Fan I have to say that the overall quality of this replica is excellent. The 'phaser firing' sound effects are true to the series (though the overload effect left something to be desired); but there is no 'stun' sound effect for some reason. The two parts attach/detach easily and the insertion points it seem pretty durable. I will give you a warning about the overload dial (actually the force dial on the rear of the phaser) -- DO NOT turn this dial more than a quarter turn to activate the overload feature -- it snaps off very easily. Lots of fun; dog hates it.
Make the kid in you smile! I've had one of these for a while now, and I'm very impressed. Let's face it, I'm a nerd, and this is the toy I'd have loved SO much as a child of the 70's! We didn't have anything comparable then, but now we do. Sure, I may be too old for it now, but that hasn't stopped me from having fun with it! Need to take a walk through the darkest part of the house? Take it along with you to zap those phantom Klingons, Romulans, and the odd Space Dust Bunny you know are lurking out there! I tease my cat with it too, she loves it now, will come running at the authentic phaser sounds, she knows she's gonna get poked with it, and it's one of her favorite games. One of the neatest things about this toy is the seperable 'Phaser 1' unit. Pull the little side knob, and it pops out of the pistol grip, just like the ones in the show. Now you can carry your phaser with you to shoot those annoying people who cut you off in traffic, without looking like you're waving a gun at them! (rofl!) Let the kid in you come out and play, just get one, you won't be sorry! (Though the wife/kids/neighbors or whoever might think you've slipped your gears a little).
Done with Amazon! I was unlucky enough to find out the hard way that Amazon sells used product, that was also broken,and not clearly marked as used in the ad, they really need to mark these things better. I spent about 5 or 6 hundred bucks there last month, and was happy with most of the stuff i have recieved from them, but not this!!!!! It is just to bad, that i will never buy anything from them ever again, and will have no trouble tell friends and family not to shop there also!!!
