Amazon.com: A little more complicated but no less intelligent than the first season, the animated Gargoyles: Season 2, Volume 1 follows the further adventures of the ancient Scots clan of gargoyles relocated to modern Manhattan and freed from a curse that had turned them to stone. Still sworn to protect their new, adopted city while dealing with the underhanded, sometimes criminal machinations of the man who lifted the curse--billionaire Xanatos (voice by Jonathan Frakes)--gargoyles leader Goliath (Keith David) and his fellow misfits cope with consequences of some very modern problems (genetic engineering, pirate television) as well as some from the days of magic (time travel, evil spells).
In the 26 episodes in this boxed set (half the content of season 2), Xanatos is particularly busy cooking up mischief--some of which goes very wrong, such as the forced metamorphosis of several kidnapped humans into winged monsters, an experiment conducted by one of the mad scientists working in his labs. A couple of multi-part stories, such as "City of Stone," in which New York's inhabitants are turned to stone under a dark spell, and "Avalon," in which Goliath ventures into King Arthur territory, enrich and anchor season 2 with consistent storylines. As with the first season, these new tales have an impressive vocal cast, including Michael Dorn, Tim Curry, David Warner, and Sheena Easton. --Tom Keogh

Sorry I missed out! This aired on TV when I was ten, and I'm so sorry I missed out on all the action! I probably only caught a handful of this series. This is a truly great show, which uses intelligence and story telling in such a riveting way. Children and adults alike can enjoy and appreciate Gargoyles. It is too bad that as of yet there has not been any news on a season 2 vol 2 release. When it is released however, I will definitely be there to snatch it.
Absolutely Fantastic Series! My friends and I absolutely love the Gargoyles series. Really hope it continues into a volume 2 DVD set.

Pretty darn fantastic The scope of characters and plotlines in this series is one of it's most amazing aspects, and this DVD is the point in its chronology when it really begins to reveal this impressive depth. Understandably it might have been a little difficult to keep up with on TV but that's what makes the advent of DVD so great isn't it? Aside from that, as I'm sure many before me have expounded upon, this is just overall a fantastic show and one of the best dramatic TV series, animated or otherwise, around. The heroes are so well fleshed out, likable, and just plaing cool. The villains (often a flexible term here) are awesome not only in appearance, but in their attitude, smarts, and abilities. The narritve twists are very well executed and clever. There is pure heartrending tragedy, eye pleasing action, and some truly beautiful tender moments. Buy it. Nuff said.
