5 out of 5 starsThe Force is with this Spectacular Action Game!
Ok, so I'm a little late in playing this game, but I love it. I purchased this game two days ago, and yes, I beat it in two sittings. The missions are so immersive, the controls are wonderful and the gameplay is simply addicting. One of my favorite things about this game is the careful attention to the plot. I was a bit worried that the video game would be a watered down version of the PG-13 film... I was very wrong. Certain levels in this game put you right into the muderous shoes of Darth Vader, killing everything that comes between you and your goals, while others put you in the shoes of the hero Obi Wan.
As far as graphics, well, these rate at about a 6.5 to 7.0 right now in 2007, but for that generation of games they rate an easy 8.0. The game is moderately long, (the story mode takes about 6 or 7 hours) but there is so much replayability that story mode doesn't even put a knick in the potential gameplay.

Overall this is a must buy!

3 out of 5 starsNumerous Flaws that Should Have Been Fixed
If you're a fan of the Star Wars world, you know that Episode III is the "last episode" in terms of movie releases. This is the ultimate episode where Anakin finally turns to the dark side and embraces his new personae as Darth Vader.

The translation into a game was done with the full cooperation of the Star Wars people, and there are many integrations of video clips into the storyline. I've seen this done VERY well with other games, so that you feel you're an integral part of the storyline. Unfortunately, with the XBox engine, this just doesn't work as well in this game. When you switch from the movie back into gameplay, the characters suddenly look very wooden and blocky. I don't think you'd have that reaction at all if 1) they didn't try to make it a seamless situation or 2) they'd done a better job with in game graphics.

The movement of the characters during fighting is relatively smooth, with the saber attacks, spins, jumps and so on. The problem here is that much of what you're doing is repetitive. Oh look, another wave of droids to slaughter. It often comes down to button mashing, which is a shame because in an RPG like manner you get to build up your character's strengths to customize him.

I also have to comment that the dialogue gets very inane, very quickly. I realize they can't "fix" Anakin to make him more pleasant - but it's like water torture to hear his snotty voice snapping back at Kenobi constantly.

It was very nice of them to have two player gameplay, something which is missing from a lot of games. But on the other hand, why don't they have an XBox Live component? With so many people who play on Live - but don't have nearby friends to play in the house - it's a real shame. I know many people who are home taking care of kids or for other reasons can't have someone else "in" their house, and Live is an important aspect of their free time fun.

Finally, there were situations in the game where you hit a "puzzle to be solved" and you were given quick instructions about what button to press - but if you missed those for some reason, you were doomed to death so that you could go back and replay up to that area and hear the instructions again. That just makes no sense in a modern game.

Great potential here - but numerous flaws that really should have been spotted easily during beta testing.

4 out of 5 starsStar Wars Revenge of the Sith
Being a hardcore star wars fan this was the first game I purchased for my xbox. The game follows the movie nicely with a few unique levels thrown in there. I also like the movire footage in the game which helps the game flow nicely. In the game you will start the first level playing as Anakin. Throughout the game you will switch between Anakin and Obi-Wan. The game is fun but it is somewhat repeatitive. It is a hack and slash button masher game. In most of th levels you run around destroying hundreds of battle droids ubtill your fingers hurt. The bosses on this game are incredibly easy and have no unique fighting style. In order to defeat a boss all you have to do is block block block slah slash slah block block block slash slash slash repeat. (Once you have defeated one boss you will undoubtedly be able to defeat all the others. This game has sixteen story levels. The story missions are an average length. You can also unlock bonus missions and this game also has a 17th level where they show what would of happened if Anakin beat Obi-Wan. This game also has a multiplayer feature where you can have one on one duels or play co cop. The duels are the best. there are only 4 co op missions and they are all very short and frankly boring. Overall average Star Wars game.

Game play composed well, however game is too short and easy to defeat.

This was the only thing my four year old asked Santa for this year. He absolutely loves it. Now he's trying to teach mom how to play!
