The year that saw producer Cubby Broccoli's successful film adaptation of Goldfinger elevate the adventures of British secret agent James Bond into a four-decade-plus global phenomena and the publication of Fleming's most idiosyncratic work, the children's fantasy Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, was also the year the author succumbed to a heart attack. Broccoli (who'd acquired the Chitty rights along with Bond) shrewdly lured the Sherman Brothers away from Disney (where their musical successes included a pair of Oscars for Mary Poppins) to write a collection of songs for Fleming's magical tale of inventor Caractacus Potts (Poppins' star Dick Van Dyke) and the phantasmagorical flying car he and his children soar to adventure in. Great CD for kids or adults! This is a super soundtrack. The songs appear in the same order as they do in the movie, so it's easy for young fans to follow along. Adults may have forgotten how many great songs are in this movie. This one is a good value!
I like the music Because its a classic, I guess I'm old. But I know what I like in music.
Great Audio Quality from the Original Film Our daughter loves the movie "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", so we bought this CD for her. It was a wonderful gift. We were amazed at how well the quality was, especially for an older film that was not originally captured digitally.
great substitute for the movie My 2 year old daughter loves the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and asks to watch it all day long. I will often offer the soundtrack instead, and she will dance and sing along to all her favorite songs.
Great music but less than great sound quality The music from the movie is great but the sound quality on the cd is no where near as good as it could be. I'm not sure why a better recording is not out there but this recording sounds 'tinny'. That said, I want to keep the recording because it's fun to sing along to the songs, etc., but if a better one comes along I would think seriously about trading this one in for a better one.
