Description:
A reporter, Lanie Kerrigan (Jolie), interviews a psychic homeless man (Shalhoub) for a fluff piece about a football game's score. Instead, he tells her that her life has no meaning, and is going to end in just a few days, which sparks her to action, trying to change the pattern of her life...

Amazon.com:
Angelina Jolie proves her box-office versatility in Life or Something Like It, a romantic comedy (Jolie's first) that succeeds on the strength of Jolie's appealing performance. As Seattle TV news reporter Lanie Kerrigan, Jolie craves celebrity (i.e., she's insecure and seeks approval), but her disapproving cameraman (Edward Burns) detects an admirable woman beneath Lanie's bleached-blond coif and pancake makeup. When a homeless street prophet (Tony Shalhoub) predicts that Lanie will soon be dead, she gradually juggles her priorities, connecting with Burns, appearing drunk on camera (a mistake that ultimately works in her favor), and finding new confidence in her professional and romantic potential. It's generic fluff, but director Stephen Herek (Rock Star, Mr. Holland's Opus) approaches the material with his reliably good-natured sincerity, and Jolie's bubbly charm mixes well with Burns's casual sensibility. And while Herek can't compare to George Cukor or Billy Wilder, he knows just how to handle the inevitable loopholes in the prophet's not-so-gloomy premonition. --Jeff Shannon

4 out of 5 starsFairly predictable, but still pulled off beautifully
Maybe I just don't remember my high school years well enough, but I don't think Angelina got a whole lot of attention and fame for this movie. Still, I love it.

The story is a fairly common one. Angelina, playing a beautiful news anchor, finds out she only has a week to live and therefore begins to see her life and relationships in a different light. We all know where it is going, of course, but that is half the fun.

The cast is extraordinary. Usually the romantic leads are said as having chemistry or not--I beg to say that the entire cast flows extremely well together.

Then there is the filmatography. I don't know much about what is supposed to be good or artistic or whatnot--all I know is that it was a little different style than the usual romantic comedy and it came as very neat to me! It very well fit the tone of the story.

Yes, it's a predictable movie, but it is one that is well-made with a great message and plenty of heart.

4 out of 5 stars"Prophets Don't Joke ~ Things You Never See Coming"
Synopsis: What's an attractive, motivated, upwardly mobile newscaster and supposed to do when confronted with the possibility of death? While doing an on-the-street interview with Prophet Jack (Tony Shalhoub), one of Seattle's local street derelicts and self-proclaimed prophet Lanie Kerrigan (Jolie) is told she's going to die within a week. When Prophet Jack's other predicts come true Lanie becomes a believer and finds herself re-evaluating her life and set things in order while there's still time.

Critique: `Life Or Something Like It' is a surprisingly good though obscure little romance/comedy from '02 starring Angelina Jolie and Edward Burns. This is a very different role for the sexy Angelina showing a comedic, vulnerable side that I haven't seen before. Edward Burns also delivers a rather subdued but strong role as her cameraman, nemesis and potential love interest Pete. Tony Shalhoub has a small but important part as Prophet Jack, adding a certain quirkiness and surreal quality to the film that works extremely well.

My Rating: The storyline is ultimately predictable but the journey to get there is lots of fun; -4 Stars-.

4 out of 5 starsIT'S ONLY MEM BUT:
JOLIES CHARACTER IS A INSECURE TV REPORTER WITH A DISAPPEARING CMERA MAN. A STREET PERSON TELLS HER SHE IS GOING TO DIE. SO SHE TRIES TO CHANGE HER LIFE. IT IS A GGREAT COMEDY. JM

5 out of 5 starsLife
This is a great story about what is important in life and what the meaning of being happy in life is all about.

1 out of 5 starsIf Joilie is in it, then it is stupid....
This is another rupulisve movie. Everyone in this movie looks like they were ready to play in a porn flick, and it comes off as porn, even though they still keep their clothes on. Jolie shows of her looks, her lack of acting ability clearly evident, and shows that this is a stupid production.
