this movie is one of the best jerry lewis movie of all time and should be on dvd i want it on dvd now
Lewis at his best I remember this film for the classic scene of Jerry Lewis acting out Leroy Anderson's musical piece "The Typewriter." This scene has no dialog and highlights Lewis's talents with just hands and face. The movie calls Lewis's character into the Tuttle department store for a job interview; when he discovers an empty HR department, Jerry Lewis wanders over to an empty chair with a manual typewriter. He does amazing solo comic work by imitating the music perfectly on the typerwriter, each keystroke mimicked with high-flying fingers, even down to the chimes that signal a carriage return; his facial expressions and body language are amazing. I would never have imagined that watching someone type could be so hilarious, but this shows off Lewis' comic skills beautifully.
The huge store gags described in other reviews are also funny, but this scene acts as a quiet counterpoint - equally funny.
Great movie from Jerry's Paramount days!! After the success of the Nutty Professor early in 1963, Jerry did it again as Norman Phiffier, a poodle walker who falls in love with a department store heiress played by Jill St. John. Norman is hired but watch for the catastrophic comic results in only Jerry can do!Watch for classic parts by Agnes Moorehead before her Endora days on Bewitched and Ray Walston as everybody's Favorite Martian. This is a video I like to watch from time to time in my collection. On a serious note, I was going over Wikipedia to see when the movie was released. It was November 28th,1963. The movie came out at a time America was in a state of shock after the tragic loss of John F. Kennedy a week earlier."Who's Minding the Store" certainly helped ease the sorrow. It made people come back to their favorite movie theatres to watch something funny for a change.
Great Movie In Need Of A DVD Release I have never been a big Jerry Lewis fan but this is one of my favorite movies of all time. Great performances, physical comedy, and lots of fun. Please release this on DVD soon... in letterbox.
