Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Finale) - The Cast
Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band This CD is wonderful. It is so hard to find soundtracks that not only have every song but are sung by the singer in the movie. If you loved the movie you will want to add this CD to your collection
Beatles Covers (Written by Karen T. Fahel) I enjoyed the movie, but I acknowledge that not a lot of people do. However, the soundtrack is fun to listen to. The entire album is made up of Beatles covers done by the cast. Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees make up a large percentage of the songs, but the rest of the cast have theirs, too.
While some are not exactly great (George Burns "Fixing a Hole" and the people playing Mr. & Mrs. Fields doing "She's Leaving Home") quite a few are wonderful. Billy Preston totally grooves with "Get Back", Alice Cooper adds his distinctive touch to "Because", and the highlight is the spectacular, totally rockin' "Come Together" by Aerosmith.
Give it a listen; it's fun, at least.
What If the Beatles Were Born in a Discotheque? This album is meant to be fun. The film is more than painful to watch, but the music is easier to handle. I enjoy this soundtrack for it's obscure take on the Beatles. From the Bee Gees to Peter Frampton, Steve Martin to George Burns, it takes a open mind to accept these renditions, but when you hear these renditions you have that much more respect for the Beatles' song writing. It's interesting to note that George Martin did take part in this recording. Either you like it or you don't. I would recommend renting the video or listening to the clips above.
sgt. Peppers CD only Great CD, rapid response.
Highly Recommended to any one who loves the Beatles and BeeGees! Hats off to Peter Framton for his vocals, they are wonderful! Kids who loved "Sgt. Peppers" in the late '70s, or early '80's, Here we are! This is it!
Thank you for time-traveling me back, and all others,
Stephan
To Each, Their Own...I Guess
I am a huge Bee Gees and Peter Frampton fan. I think that is the only reason why I like most of this soundtrack. I am NOT a Beatles fan, mainly because I do NOT like their sound or their songs/lyrics. I was a bit reluctant to even listen to this soundtrack, but because I love the Bee Gees and Frampton, I gave it a shot.
I was pleasantly surprised. My favorite songs from this CD are "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight," "The Long and Winding Road," "A Day in the Life," and "Strawberry Fields." To put it simply, their versions buried the Beatles versions in a heart beat!
I also watched the movie. Simply put - it is bad. But again, because of the Bee Gees and Frampton, and their version of the songs, I muddled through it and, over time, added the movie to my collection. It's not one that I would watch over and over, but every now and then, I do check it out. I guess because the guys were looking mighty fine back then.
If you are a Bee Gees or Peter Frampton fan, you may want to consider giving this a try. Really, the music isn't all that bad, even if it is Beatles music. Throwing in a few other favorites such as Aerosmith, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Alice Cooper, and Billy Preston were just an added bonus. You decide.
