Wonderfully entertaining read! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Laurie Jacobson is an expert on all aspects of "Classic Hollywood." Yes, even the ghostly kind! Whether you believe in the afterlife or not, there's no doubt about the entertainment value this book gives the reader. I couldn't put it down! In fact, if you don't believe in ghosts, after reading this book, your opinion may be changed. Very well written and intriguing stories about some of Hollywood's most loved stars. A definite "must have" for your book shelf!
Ms. Jacobson is a Fan's Fan & she delivers If you're interested in Old Hollywood and you're interested in "hauntings" then this is the book for you. Laurie Jacobson is a fan's fan who digs into the stories and an excellent writer who brings these tales truly alive. (hmmm, is that a good idea?) There may be more to tell -- but then maybe that means Vol. 2 could be in the works.
Hollywood Haunted Whether you are a believer or a nay-sayer in the existence of ghosts, this book is a highly entertaining and well-researched compilation. Ms. Jacobson's obvious passion for Hollywood's history is brilliantly exhibited as she combines humor and pathos in describing the alleged existence of deceased Hollywood characters that have often been "seen" and "heard" in locations that were their favorite hang-outs. Although I often scoff at the overblown hype and silly adulation of actors, I found this angle of the Hollywood phenomenon to be quite unique and lots of fun.
Laurie Jacobson's Hollywood Haunted is a Great Red Hollywood Haunted keeps you glued to the page, filled with facts that even the most devoted Hollywood historian won't know about fascinating people. Laurie Jacobson has her finger on the pulse of today's reader - I loved all her books.
Such a cool book! This book was a blast to read. So much revealing (and creepy) "inside" Hollywood stuff - written about a side of Hollywood not often talked about. If you love all the Hollywood gossip & rag mags, you will eat up these stories! Laurie is clearly a girl who's been in ALL the crooks & crevices of tinseltown and writes about it all in a believable, passionate way. Her stories give you new insights to all that's famous and I had a great time going along on her hair-raising adventures.
