Good collection, but only one comic has Knuckles in it! Hello, I'm StoryMaker. I'm a Sonic fan, so my sister Chocolate Dog got me Sonic the Hedgehog Archives Volume 4 for Christmas. For those who don't know, this is basically a graphic novel constructed of 4 classic Sonic comic issues: #13, #14, #15, and #16. The Sonic the Hedgehog comic series by Archie Comics is based off the video games by Sega & Sonic Team. They are also based off an early Sonic the Hedgehog TV show that is often called SatAM.
These early issues are much more humorous than the newer ones, and I personally like them better that way. I mean, the recent comics are just too serious for my liking. These early ones are much more light-hearted and fun. In this special archive, they digitally restored the comics, making them look better than the originals. This is a fun, worthwhile read. It also has a compact, graphic-novel size - the size of the pages is smaller than the original comics. Great for any Sonic fan!
However, there is a little problem - the cover has Knuckles the Echidna on it and the back brags about the "rockin' debut" of Knuckles. Yes, yes, all fine and dandy - except that the only comic with Knuckles in it is the first one! All of the other comics just have Sonic and the other Freedom Fighters from SatAM. They probably should put a few Freedom Fighters besides Sonic & Tails on the cover. I know, I know, the other Freedom Fighters don't really meet up with Knuckles in any of these comics, but heck, it's cover art. I didn't mind terribly, but the cover only matched one comic. (BTW, Knuckles is my favorite Sonic character.) (BTW again: I liked how characters on the cover had the same style as classic artwork for the games.)
Overall, I'd say this is a great read for Sonic fans, especially if you liked the comics back when they were more humorous. Not ALL of the comics in this are SUPER good, but who cares? This is a fun collection, and I recommend it for Sonic fans of all types! Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"
product good, shipping not so good This book is an excellent collection of the original comics all in a smaller sort of slim graphic novel. If you want to have a nice collection of these in good condition, take notice of the shipping these come in. It looks like they were tossed in a roomy box with 3 other books of this collection with 2 of those "bags of air" used for shipping. One of them ended up underneath the cardboard box's flap! and it had a bent corner after i unwedged it from its hiding place. I was not happy about it, but I didn't think returning the single book would improve the shipping treatment. By the way, I had used Super Saver Shipping, which seemed super sloppy for these collector's items. This "Sonic The Hedgehog Archives Volume 4" has a matte finish and does not have the 15th anniversary logo in the upper left.
