For 30 years, Miller’s Antiques Price Guide has been the benchmark for authority and accessibility, acknowledged as the most comprehensive illustrated guide to antiques from around the world. The tradition continues in the latest version, now in a larger size that makes identification and valuing easier. It features color photos and in-depth information on more than 8,000 items, and is specifically compiled to reflect the American market, with every image changed from last year’s edition—so it’s up to date with collecting and buying trends. Special features explain why one piece is worth more than another, show how to value an item, and teach you how to become your own appraiser. Whether you’re buying or selling, a dealer, collector, auctioneer or appraiser, this is the one book you always need near you.
Great resource Great book. Just what I expected. Lots of pictures and descriptions. If you are looking for a starting place in buying antiques this is a good book.
Picture is 'Worth" more then words. I have every book in this series. That going back to 1977 I believe. Judith Miller was the editor before 2003 of this series. She broke from publisher and there were other editors since 2004. She'd did her own copy of the guide for the last five years and now she came back for some reason. Both books are great. Nothing like auctions and pictures for every item. Don't forget, the listing of items are over a year old. The guide may say 20009. But the items were sold from late 2007 to early 2008. Remember that the items listed are over a year old. They use a range to give value. I would prefer the actual sale price. You could get that at the Auction house web sites for most of the larger item or using Artfact.com. This is really the only professional antique guide on the market worth the price. For any appraiser this guide has some use.
