An Interesting Read I bought this because I missed the Digimon cartoon show so much. The artwork is pretty good, but since this isn't a Japanese manga, rather a Chinese manhua, it will be a little different than what many readers may be used to. The story follows the cartoon almost to the letter, with small scenes cut or added to add humor and move the story along. Overall, if you're a moderate to die-hard Digimon fan, I recommend picking this up to relive some of joy of watching the cartoon, since it doesn't seem like Disney will be releasing DVD season sets anytime soon.
Digimon I like the Digimon series because it has lots of action. It's about kids that have to protect a place called the Digital World and they have to protect it from anything. So next time you go to the library ask for Digimon books. See if they can protect the Digital world from the Evil Digimon learn how to destroy both worlds Digital...and the Real world.
Not a real manga This Digimon manga is actually a manwha (Korean comics) series based on the anime. It was an ok read but it just isn't as good as the anime and I felt like the storyline was a little rushed in this manwha. The main reason why I gave this manwha two stars is because of the English release. Even though the manwha is unflipped as it should be, Tokyopop still uses the dub names and although the translation is more accurate than the anime's dub, they still inserted some sarcastic jokes in the dialog. I don't mind the sarcastic humor in the anime's dub (I actually kind of like it), but I think with manga and manwha, the translation should be as accurate as possible instead of trying to make your own dialog up. At least the artwork is good and visual-wise, the manwha is uncut. If this was released back when Tokyopop was still called Mixxzine and when they were still releasing flipped manga because they were something that was new, I might have been more forgiving about the quality of the English release, but there's no excuse in this day and age where fans know Tokyopop can put out better releases than this. If you're a diehard Digimon fan and don't mind a little inaccurate translation, then it wouldn't be a bad choice for you to buy this. But if you're more of a casual fan who only wants the best English translations, then you should just pass this up, since it's just a retelling of the anime, anyway.
