Amazon.com:
This wild, operatic 1986 sequel to 1974's low-budget horror hit--The Texas Chainsaw Massacre--is an extraordinary film that demonstrates just how far filmmaker Tobe Hooper had grown in the interim between the two movies. (Between the two movies, Hooper directed, among other things, the Spielberg production Poltergeist, the critically admired Lifeforce, and the spooky remake of Invaders from Mars.) In Massacre 2, Hooper enlists Dennis Hopper as a Texas Ranger seeking vengeance against the flesh-eating family that was introduced in the first film. Meanwhile, a radio deejay (Caroline Williams) is kidnapped by the family and brought to their underground lair. The performances are crazed, terrifying, and comic; the chainsaw fights are practically epic; the lighting and camera work are artful; the emotions are strong; and the ending is astounding, unparalleled in its imagery and force. --Tom Keogh

3 out of 5 starsBetter then i thought it would be
First off let me say i never saw the original TCM.ive seen trailers for it and it never attracted me,the remake however i really like.Tom Savini's effects are really good but there are only a handfull of kills.chop top really is the high point of this movie but its still a pretty good movie to watch.i found it enjoyable and even funny at times.i know people who like the original dont like this one but honestly the original TCM looks boring,i LOVE horror and have never been interested in seeing it until the remake.i recomend you at least rent this one to see it as this is a "hate it or love it"type of movie.but the chainsaw duel is just great to see and that alone is worth owning this movie for along with all the scenes with chop top.

4 out of 5 starsExcellent extra features...BUT MISSING GORE!!
This DVD is definately worth buying if you're a die-hard TCM2 fan like me. However, MGM should be ashamed that they released a 'Gruesome Edition,' when it is still missing key "money shots." I'm lucky enough to own a laserdisc edition than Elite put out in 1996.
OK, before you doubt me, let me explain. After watching this new dvd edition, I was impressed by the sound and picture improvements that MGM did on the film. But if you're gonna release a cult movie like this and label it 'gruesome' and unrated, then relase it in its true, uncut form!
Here be the key differences between the Gruesome DVD and the Elite Laserdisc:
- L.G.'s assault at the K.O.K.L.A. radio station: The Laserdisc version has more close ups of the brutal hammer blows delivered by CHOPTOP. Although I didn't count and compare the details scientifically, there are more close-ups of the head shots and several more actual on-film blows to the head. Take my word for it-laserdisc version is more brutal overall. MGM must have chickened out and edited this scene, hoping that we fans wouldn't know the difference...SHAME!
-More panning back and forth between Rick and Buzz after Leatherface half-decapitates Buzz on the bridge. Very slight difference, but again, more gore on ELITE version.
-When Lefty shoves his sawblade into the stomach of Leatherface, the ELITE version shows a second or two extra close-up of the blade making a mess outta "Bubba's" guts. Of course, the new MGM release is missing this key insert shot.
There you have it, folks. While this release is a must-have for fans, I took a star away from my review for the simple fact that MGM didn't go for the true gory, uncut version of this cult classic like they should have. The resposible people at MGM should be put into the next batch of "Sawyer's Famous Chilli" as punishment. BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ..........ZZZZZZZZZZZ

5 out of 5 starsgreat A+++++++++ love this flim
this is a great horror movie at least I think so and it a really good dvd

4 out of 5 stars"The Texas Chainsaw" Review "2"
"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2". Largely considered on the most unneeded sequels of all time, it, in actuality, is shockingly good. The DVD itself isn't exactly packed with special features, but it is still a worth-while DVD-addition to your undoubtedly packed collection.

4 out of 5 starsTop Texas Massacre Movie
This is by far the best of all the Texas Chainsaw Massacre films. It loses the cruddy quality and special effects of the first film, thankfully, but retains the sadistic entertainment. The family in this film is the same as the original, and is better than in any of the other movies. There are a handful of good jumps, but what makes this film so entertaining is truly the characters: their complete ignorance of right and wrong, their petty squabbling, and their darkly humorous jokes. Good gore effects and a decent storyline back up the diverting dysfunctional family. A must watch for any horror fan.
