5 out of 5 starsAwsome for what it is!
I read the first Annihilation series and I'm finding I'm actually enjoying Conquest a bit more. I find the character development and art are a little better in my taste in regard to the miniseries. I also think the villains are a little scarier than the last.

This Volume contains the prologue issue, a 4 issues Starlord miniseries, a 4 issue Quasar miniseries and an issue that recaps everything that happened in the first Annihilation series. I REALLY enjoyed the story and the characters in the Starlord series. With a story that flows well, joined with great action, suprises and comedy, the Starlord miniseries series alone was reason enough to buy this book. The quasar story is a fantasy space opera thats really fun, with some great surprises.

Since this is only the build up to the big events in Volume 2, its to be expected the story is not as epic as it will be in the following volume. But knowing that, its still a very enjoyable read and left me excited to finally read what happens next.

So don't expect to get a full story with this volume, but expect to read an awsome first half of one.

2 out of 5 starsi give this an "eh"
conquest really left me disappointed. the entire time i felt like i was only getting 2/3rds of the picture when it came to story. there are some interesting things but not enough that i would recomend it.

4 out of 5 starsHoly Crap! This book has Rocket Raccoon!
I'll admit, I'm not as flipped on this event as the first but it is still pretty good. Star Lord and his team are pretty cool but I miss Nova and Drax. Drax was a psycho in Annihilation and I want to see more of him, but I like the fact that we get to see more of Quasar. However, I think the whole deal with Moondragon turning into an actual dragon is kind of crappy. I didn't really think Moondragon was a cool character anyway, but wouldn't have been better to have her die saving Quasar instead of turning her into a dragon? Just kind of lame if you ask me. On the up side, Wraith makes his first appearance in the second book so I'm looking forward to its release. I only give the book three stars on the whole, but it get's a bonus star because of ROCKET RACCOON! He's awesome.

3 out of 5 starsNot much here
Marvel's interstellar alternative to Civil War, the first Annihilation saga was a surprisingly great space saga that re-established many of Marvel's interstellar characters like Nova, Drax, and Quasar, and even breathed new life into the Silver Surfer and Galactus. Now, Annihilation: Conquest is here, which more or less picks up where Annihilation left off. Ronan is still around and kicking, and he's got some big plans for the Kree empire. Also on the scene are Nova and Quasar among others; of which this first hardcover collection features the most material of. There is a variety of talent behind this collection, including the great Keith Giffen (who knows a thing or two about interstellar space sagas) and the Nova writing team of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning; but the book as a whole just moves along too slow and comes off as more of a prelude of things to come instead. That's not necesssarily a bad thing, as there is great artwork to be seen throughout, and things start to speed up as this first collection comes to a close, but there just isn't enough here to overly satisfy. If you loved the first Annihilation saga, this first collection in the Annihilation: Conquest saga is worth picking up just to see what happens next, as things will undoubtedly pick up from this point forward.

3 out of 5 starsThe first annihilation books were better
I have read all the annihilation books up to this one (and sadly waiting for the next), sadly because the first annihilation books were way better than this one. On this one they dwell a lot on the new quasar character and a new hidden heroe. But its nothing like the beginning and the end of the annihilation wave, with great characters like silver surfer, drax the destroyer, nova, thanos, galactus and all his past heralds,etc.. they were just some exiting books to read, not like this one. I was really anxious to read the annihilation books, and waited for them one by one and when I read this one Im not as anxious to read the next one. But Ill still read it( I guess Im a sucker like that).
