Product Description: A perfect gift for baby showers! Great for new big brother and sisters!
A baby is born. From the first moments of her life, she is able to breathe, open her eyes, and gaze at her mother’s face. Soon she will nurse, suck her thumb, and sleep. With text as tender as a newborn’s cheek, Robie H. Harris tells a story to children about the day they were born, describing how loud they cried and how they could see light, hear sounds, and even sneeze. Together with Michael Emberley’s extraordinary illustrations - each one carefully observed and deeply moving - HAPPY BIRTH DAY! shows children how very much they were loved right from the start.
In this new paperback edition, HAPPY BIRTH DAY! includes an illustrated bookplate that lets parents or gift givers fill in the details of a special baby’s birth.
Birth-day gift Excellent book for giving your child on their birth-day to commemorate the day! Fabulous illustrations!
the mom who reads this book I love this book. My baby is still a bit too young to understand books so this one is for me. It reminds me of all the joy of her first day here, when they put her into my arms and I never knew something could feel that good. This book captures that day's experiences and feelings perfectly and serves to remind me, when I am tired and grumpy, the magic and joy that should be the overwhelming experience of having a child.
Great book with very true-to-life illustrations This is a charming, tender and very true-to-life book about what the first few minutes after giving birth are like -- really lovely. I would caution conservative families, though -- the illustrations are very realistic, this is not a "prettied-up" view of newborn babies. So if you'd rather that your children imagine newborns as looking like the Gerber baby, this may not be the book for you.
Home Birth Momma This book is listed in some attatchment list as a a book to buy, be for warned if you are HOME BIRTHER this book is NOT FOR YOU. It deplicts all the medical hipe that you receive in the hospital setting. I was very dissapointed! If you are a Hospital mom this is probably your book! I suggest Welcome with Love for hombirthbabies!
Wonderful book This is a wonderful book that I first saw at our library and had to have for our 18 month old reader. She loves the illustrations as much as I do! I'm going to order the follow up book as soon as I'm done reviewing this one!I do agree with another reviewer that this is not an appropriate gift book for somone who has had a particularly long and painful labor.
