2 out of 5 starsTwo out of three

I won't go into the plots as it's been done. Tropical Heat and Desert Heat were 5's. But Atlanta Heat was a 3.
There wasn't much of a plot to it, just Macey and Em lusting after each other, explicit sex and misunderstandings; Macey telling Em he loves her, repeatedly, she doesn't believe him. I've read Lora Leigh before and she's very good, just not this one.

4 out of 5 starsCindy Gerard was my favorite
I picked up this anthology because of Lora Leigh and Cherry Adair. I've never read anything by Cherry but I've heard good things and I've read one Breed book by Lora and know her to be one of the reigning queens of smut. When I read Rescue Me, I was kind of eh about the first two stories though but I kept going just to say I finished it and am so glad I did! I loved Cindy Gerard novella, Desert Heat and would recommend it for her story alone.

Cherry Adair's Tropical Heat:
I liked it. It starts right away with Dr. Elizabeth Goodall held prisoner by a group of African militants. She is being 'asked' to surgically alter the face of wanted terrorist and unfortunately for her, they have the wrong doctor. She decides to brazen it out, hoping for rescue and it comes in the form of Sam Pelton, a teacher from her town who kissed her and left her months ago. What the heck is a teacher from the town of Brandon, Montana doing deep in the Congo, coming to her rescue? Luckily for her Sam is a teacher, a tactical instructor specializing in special ops in weaponry for high risk environments and he's loved her from afar for over a year, patiently waiting for her to be ready for him. Now that he's almost lost her, he's determined not to waste a single moment without her.
I liked this story. It was certainly fast paced and had an interesting change of scenery, being deep in the Congo. Unfortunately that came part and parcel with the jungle atmosphere and all the bugs. In fact both Beth and Sam are covered in bug spray and I just found that to be a downer. Yuck. Not romantic. Especially considering the two are running for their lives from a well known sadistic warlord this just didn't seem the setting for a romantic interlude. But I liked it. It's a nice introduction to what this author is capable of.

Lora Leigh's Atlanta Heat:
I've never read Lora's Navy Seals before. I realized this was part of a series when I read about some happenings that had occurred earlier but it wasn't anything crucial. I followed this story quite easily.
Emerson Delaney is the goddaughter of Macey March's commanding officer, Admiral Holloran. He's been mooning over her for the last two years. This isn't a case of lust, Macey March knows Emerson Delaney is the one. She's the one who could slip that ring on his finger and make him like it. So he stays away from her, until her constant presence wears him down and he snaps and kisses her passionately, right in front of the Admiral. It jumps to a month later and Em is kidnapped by a gang of terrorists and the Admiral has ordered Macey to bring her back and hide her until the person betraying the Seals is found. Macey chooses his home which has a safehouse deep underground as the hiding place.
This places our hero and heroine into close proximity with each other and forces them to confront their desire for each other. The sex was okay. I didn't think it was on par with Breed sex, but I guess even a Navy Seal can't compare with animal DNA. This story was okay. I found it kind of boring to be honest. Because they were stuck underground for awhile, they didn't do anything. She avoided him for a length of time too, since she was hiding from him and her feelings for him. We were told more about their romance then actualy see it unfold. There was a rather weird supporting character in Macey's pet anaconda, Drack. Drack injected some needed humor to the story but then it got strange when Lora wrote a bit from the snake's POV. That kind of squicked me out. Luckily I've read Megan's Mark from Lora Leigh's Breed series so I know that she can really write a sexy story and not to judge her by this.

Cindy Gerard's Desert Heat:
This starts with Assistant DA Elena Martinez and police detective Seth King competing in a charity scavenger hunt through the Arizona canyons. Elena had been threatened by a family member of a man she had prosecuted and the isolation and dangerous terrain of the canyon is a perfect setting for the bad guys to kill her.
I really liked this story. I wished this could have been a full length novel. Cindy Gerard could have really stretched it out, added a few twists and turns and I would have loved it. This story was so exciting and had such a brisk pace. Both Seth and Elena were well fleshed out characters and their romance worked in the story. When they finally have sex, it's a celebration of life and passion and was steamy for that alone. Elena isn't some TSTL heroine nor is she a perfect Mary Sue, able to take down all the bad guys. Nor is Seth some super strong male, able to vanquish all in his path. He actually spends some time woozy in the book, proving that a well placed kick in the head can bring down even the toughest alpha male. I loved the ending of this story as well. It was so cute! I can't wait to read more by Cindy Gerard.

5 out of 5 starsNo rescue needed from this anthology!
I loved this collection! The only downside I found was it's too short.

1) Tropical Heat by Cherry Adair ***** - This was the first story I've read from Ms. Adair, but based on it I'll be looking for more of her stories. I was left with the impression that this was part of a larger series, however it is still able to stand alone. A perfect balance of action and romance.

2) Atlanta Heat by Lora Leigh ***** - This is part of her "Tempting SEALs" series. Like the rest of the series, this book is steamy and thrilling. The only complaint is that the "whodunit" part of the book wasn't fully self-supporting. There just wasn't enough information for someone who hadn't read the other books in the series. Even so, I've never been dissappointed with a Lora Leigh title, and this one lives up to her others.

3)Desert Heat by Cindy Gerard ***** - This story was a little out of sync with the other two titles in that the first two featured true rescue scenerios, this one focused on two people getting out of danger together. DH was a great read by another new-to-me author. I'm very interested in reading more by Ms. Gerard.

Overall a great book with three exciting stories. Definately worth checking out.

5 out of 5 starsrescur me
The only thing this book lacked was more of it. I liked all three stories, and was very pleased with dealing with amazon.com. Thanks very much.

4 out of 5 starsRapids and mosquitoes and snakes, oh my!
Three exciting stories of danger, action and repressed desire explode from the pages of Rescue Me.

Topical Heat - takes the reader to a hot steamy jungle filled with bugs, snakes and terrorists all bent on destroying a lovely GP from Montana who finds herself rescued by her neighbor and part time teacher. She thinks he is a nice guy but what is he doing in the jungle looking like GI Joe

Atlanta Heat - has the Navy Seals vs evil commando gun runners and an innocent woman caught in the crossfire. It also has one of the more interesting love triangle: a girl, a guy and his snake.

Desert Heat - might better have been titled Canyon of Heat. Set in the Grand Canyon on a charity hike a dueling DA and cop square off against nature, drug lords and each other

What all three of these tales have in common is a heroine and hero who have lusted silently after each other for months, years even. Each afraid to make the first move. The fear and adrenaline of the kidnapping push them into each others' arms and the fulfillment of those unspoken desires.

If I have one criticism of these stories is that it is difficult to believe that these couples find romance when they are covered with DEET, bugs and leeches. Or that having a large snake wrapped around your leg isn't a real turn off. And finally how does one find pleasure when every bone in your body is aching because you just jumped off a cliff?

Read the book and find out.
