Harryhausen films released several of these films in colorized versions not included of course. What we get are the original concepts, and I'm glad they seperated these movies accordingly. Don't need any Sinbad movies because I got those seperately. This is as good as it gets, and I've been taking my time getting it like a mighty fine wine... more

Starring: Laurence Olivier, Harry Hamlin, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith, Ursula Andress Directed By: Desmond Davis June 01, 2004
In 1981 my 8th grade class got to see this film as part of a treat for work we had done and it truly was a treat and all of us clapped at the end of the film. There is something charming about this film.First of all, unlike the 2010 film to come out one is not about to be bombarded with 3d CGI effects stupid dialogue that looks like GI JOE in Athens or all sorts of pc junk with a horrible soundtrack... more

|
Starring: Paul Hubschmid, Paula Raymond, Cecil Kellaway, Kenneth Tobey, Donald Woods Directed By: Eugène Lourié October 21, 2003
Features:- Near the Arctic Circle, an atomic bomb is detonated. This fearsome experiment disturbs the sleep of a giant rhedosaurus encased in ice for more than 100-million years and sends it southward on a destructive, deadly rampage. The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms is a film of firsts. It spawned a new era of atomic-age creature features. It was the first screen adaptation of a work by fantasy fiction titan Ra
This is a great DVD and a great presentation of classic Ray Harryhausen special effects. Special Features include Making of the Beast interview with Harryhausen on what they went through to make the film. What struck me was his claim that this film was his first solo effort in a low budget picture; the studio gave him free reign and so he build the ONE monster for all effects. The second feature... more

|
Starring: Todd Armstrong, Nancy Kovack, Gary Raymond, Laurence Naismith, Niall MacGinnis Directed By: Don Chaffey July 14, 1998
The Argonauts were very early explorers, most likely the first Greek voyagers to the Black Sea. They sailed from Thessaly, where their leader, JASON, was the rightful king of Iolcus. According to the myth, Jason's father, Aeson, was deposed by his half-brother Pelias, who was warned at the time how he would in turn be overthrown by a man wearing only one sandal. This mythical story is well told in... more

|
Starring: Kerwin Mathews, Kathryn Grant, Richard Eyer, Torin Thatcher Directed By: Nathan Juran, Ray Harryhausen October 07, 2008
No CGI movie made today can compare to the true art form of stop motion animation. Ya, Avitar looks great in 3D and all but it does not have the heart that these movies had. Synbad was made in 1958 and the special effects for the time were excellent. In my opinion they even hold up well today. This movie is one of the best films with stop motion characters I am aware of. It came out before Jason... more

The Ymir is a man sized creature that was brought back to Earth in 1957 with our first manned mission to that planet.
In reality it was basically a moveable toy that was created by Ray Harryhausen. It had hinged joints so it could be made to appear to move. It had holes in its feet so they could be screwed into the board represnting the surface it was moving on. And finally it had a... more
