| Starring: Kathryn Beaumont, Ed Wynn, Richard Haydn, Sterling Holloway, Jerry Colonna Directed By: Clyde Geronimi, David Hand, Hamilton Luske, Robert Florey, Wilfred Jackson January 27, 2004
I bought this from the Family DVD Warehouse and it came fast! Packaging was great and everything seemed fine. The DVD freezes in one spot though. We have tried cleaning it and everything but every time the movie gets to that spot it freezes and acts up. Other than that everything is great. We bought this movie so we could watch it before seeing the new one in theaters (which was really good!)... more

| | 3. The Marx Brothers Silver Screen Collection (The Cocoanuts / Animal Crackers / Monkey Business / Horse Feathers / Duck Soup) |
| Starring: Groucho Marx, Harpo Marx, Chico Marx, Zeppo Marx, Lillian Roth Directed By: Joseph Santley, Leo McCarey, Norman Z. McLeod, Robert Florey, Victor Heerman November 09, 2004
You may have heard that this set has some serious flaws. That's right: only a few paltry special features - no commentary or documentaries like WB's Marx Brothers set has, films that are not remastered - up to current quality standards your average movie buff now expects, and there are some missing scenes in some of the movies. Well, that last bit is unavoidable. A few minutes from these films have... more

| | 4. The Bela Lugosi Collection (Murders in the Rue Morgue / The Black Cat / The Raven / The Invisible Ray / Black Friday) |
| Starring: Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, David Manners, Julie Bishop, Sidney Fox Directed By: Arthur Lubin, Edgar G. Ulmer, Lambert Hillyer, Lew Landers, Robert Florey September 06, 2005
This is a review for the BELA LUGOSI COLLECTION, a set of five vintage horror movies featuing Bela Lugosi released by Universal Pictures in a one DVD collection. I rate this set of vintage b&w talkies 4 1/2 stars out of a possible 5 stars because of the fact that all five films are on one disc. Surely Universal could have made a two disc set just to avoid the inconvenience and potential... more

| | 5. The Crooked Way |
| Starring: John Payne, Sonny Tufts, Ellen Drew, Rhys Williams, Percy Helton Directed By: Robert Florey November 22, 2005
The film has all the production features of a first rate movie. Chiaroscuro Black and White, sharply etched images, beautifully modeled characters. It has John Payne, an experienced actor by the time of the film, 1949, for years a second or third tier leading man (not strong enough himself to carry a film but a successful support to some of the top actresses of the day). There is a workmanlike script... more

| | 9. Golden Age Theater Volume 3 |
| Starring: Vincent Price, Charles Boyer, Ida Lupino, Lon Chaney Jr., Hugh Beaumont Directed By: Robert Florey, Harry Horner, Tay Garnett August 22, 2006
Collectors have long since learned to be wary of the DVD compilations offered by discount houses - there are plenty of unwatchably murky video transfers out there which aren't worth buying, even at bargain basement prices. And Alpha Video (Alpha Home Entertainment) hardly has a stellar record in this respect. But when they get it right, they deserve to be recognized for it! Volume 3 of their... more
