| 1. Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1 (The Twilight Saga) |
|
By: Stephenie Meyer Publisher: Yen Press March 16, 2010
As a fan of "Twilight", I was really excited when this book came out. Yet I didn't give it five stars for several reasons. For one, while the art in this graphic adaptation of "Twilight" is beautiful, there are some characters I'm iffy on. Jacob Black, for example, is not drawn the way I had pictured him. There are also several panels that seem out of place because they are too "realistic" for the... more

| 2. Maximum Ride: The Manga, Vol. 1 |
|
By: James Patterson, NaRae Lee Publisher: Yen Press January 27, 2009
Well, this is the first Manga book I ever read, so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I like it. it was a fun story and the pictures made it come alive. I was disappointed when I got to the end and it wasn't the end. But I should have expected that, I guess, since it was labeled "Vol. 1." I picked it up at B&N on a gift card to go with my frappacino... more

| 4. Black Butler, Vol. 1 |
|
From: Yen Press Publisher: Yen Press January 26, 2010
Wow. This is the first manga I ever read that did not make me laugh at all. Even Cantarella has funny moments! And I really don't get what's up (with manga in general) having such weird names. Ciel Phantomhive? Unless this is some strange cult name that will be divulged in the future, it is a really bad name.
Anyway, Sebastian was only mildly intriguing - sort of a James Bond... more

| 6. Soul Eater, Vol. 2 |
|
From: Yen Press Publisher: Yen Press February 23, 2010
"Soul Eater" is a comic with such a bizarre premise that I am still surprised it is as entertaining as it is. A bunch of young kids are training at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (which is located in Nevada, USA for some reason...), in pairs of "meister" and "demon weapon." The "demon weapon" kid transforms into a weapon that is wielded by the "meister," who hopes to collect the souls of 99 evil... more

| 7. Spice and Wolf, Vol. 1 |
|
By: Isuna Hasekura Publisher: Yen Press December 15, 2009
To keep this short: This is not manga, this is a light novel. The events of the manga without as many pictures, in book form if you will. The translations are good and recreate the original story well. My only complaint with this is the fact the they changed the cover art. While this art is by no means bad, in it's own right, I just preferred the original STYLE much, much more... more
