By: Pierre Comtois Publisher: TwoMorrows Publishing September 18, 2009
How well do you know your comics history? You'll know it better after Marvel Comics in the 1960s, a retrospective look back at the "House of Ideas" in their burgeoning heyday.
After the dark days of Wertham's Seduction of the Innocent, the '60s brought forth a new kind of comic story, and it came from the very best of the industry's legends: Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita... more

| 3. Modern Masters Volume 3: Bruce Timm |
|
By: Eric Nolen-Weathington, Bruce Timm Publisher: TwoMorrows Publishing June 01, 2004
This book covers the career of Bruce Timm, the man responsible for the Batman animated series. It is very interesting to see how his career developed from wannabe comic book artist to animation director. It was interesting to see how the world of TV animation works. It's quite different from the world of film animation. Of course the volume is filled with the artwork of Bruce Timm, which is done... more

| 6. How To Create Comics, From Script To Print |
|
By: Danny Fingeroth; Mike Manley Publisher: TwoMorrows Publishing June 21, 2006
A disappointing book. VERY poorly organized. A thin book on a big topic. It spent a lot of time on the area where it was weakest: scripts. A better investment would be Denny O'Neil's The DC Comics Guide to Writing Comics. Also of interest was Klaus Janson's The DC Comics Guide to Pencilling Comics.
Character development is beautifully done in Orson Scott Card's Characters and Viewpoint... more

| 7. The Batcave Companion |
|
By: Michael Eury, Michael Kronenberg, Neal Adams, Carmine Infantino, Irv Novick Publisher: TwoMorrows Publishing April 15, 2009
For the Bat-Fan, this text is incredible. Filled with memorable quotes and bat-history, Mr. Eury's research is his opus to the Caped Crusader's history. The index is invaluable alone for helping me recognize the issues and stories I've missed in the Darknight Detective's Silver Age.
One wonderful thing about this book--is that it brought me awareness of the sixties Batman newspaper... more

| 8. Mego 8" Super-Heroes: World's Greatest Toys! |
|
By: Benjamin Holcomb Publisher: TwoMorrows Publishing October 25, 2007
As an author of action figure collectible books myself, Benjamin Holcomb's book is VERY frustrating for me to pick up and read because of MANY reasons. Among them:
1) It's impeccably written. 2) It's perfectly organized. 3) The photographs are STUNNING. 4) My all-time favorite action figures--and the first toy line I'd ever "completed"--was Mego's OWGSH. 5) Otto's... more

| 10. Panel Discussions: Design in Sequential Art Storytelling |
|
By: Durwin S. Talon Publisher: TwoMorrows Publishing July 01, 2002
Very good book for the aspiring creator. I learned enough about storytelling to change the whole focus of what goes into each panel and each page. It made me realize things I might never have fiqured out on my own. I would have liked a bit more structure to the format. Like maybe asking each creator some standard, important questions and not just letting them talk about whatever they wanted. Also... more
