| 3. Dark Tower: The Fall of Gilead |
|
By: Robin Furth, Peter David, Richard Isanove Publisher: Marvel Comics February 16, 2010
I really enjoyed this hardcover. We begin with an exploration of Marten Broadcloak & his past. It's a simple but enlightening enough tale. Then the fall begins. Noticeably enough the demise of Gilead comes from within. There are some real harrowing scenes in it and the pace is relentless. Roland takes a back seat of sorts & it concentrates more on his father for as long as possible. ... more

| 4. Invincible Iron Man Omnibus, Vol. 1 |
|
By: Matt Fraction Publisher: Marvel Comics March 03, 2010
19 issues in a nice hardcover. There's basically two story arcs here. The first seven issues take place before Secret Invasion where Stark's tech gets out into the hands of terrorists. It's about his fears that the Iron Man tech gets used for evil and the sacrifices he makes to stop it. It reminds me a bit of an early Authority story.
The next 12 issues are post-SI, with Stark being kicked... more

| 6. The Death of Captain America Omnibus |
|
By: Ed Brubaker Publisher: Marvel Comics December 23, 2009
Some how Ed Brubaker & Steve Epting were able take Bucky (once believed to be one of the lamest characters) to replace an assasinated Steve Rogers as Captain America and it comes off amazing. The art is incredible, the plot has so many twists without being out of the realm of comic book possibilities, and its all fantastic. I don't know how this could have been any better!! Great stuff!!... more

| 7. The Ultimates Omnibus |
|
By: Mark Millar Publisher: Marvel Comics July 01, 2009
If you collected the single issues, the trade paperbacks, or the two hardcovers, then this is an unnecessary collection.
don't get me wrong, I still bought it. "The Ultimates" is every bit as good as everyone says, and then some. Everything is mint perfect as is, however... This collection is unnecessarily overwhelming. If you get a chance, I'd recommend picking up the two hardcovers that... more

| 9. Criminal (Deluxe Edition) |
|
By: Ed Brubaker Publisher: Marvel Comics November 18, 2009
This book is what it would be like if Hollywood suddenly began producing crime comics instead of movies. Ed Brubaker is a mastermind when it comes to writing crime comics. There are 3 narratives here that are all interconnected. The whole of this story is much greater than the sum of its parts. Can't wait for Deluxe Edition 2. ... more
