| 2. Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend |
|
By: Winsor McCay Publisher: BiblioBazaar July 17, 2009
This is no children's book of comics! When I showed it to my over twenty-one daughter she asked,"This used to published in a newspaper?" She loved it as much as I did. The "Far side," type humor is still funny today. Dover said they removed some of the ethic humor that would offend people today. It is sad to me that people can't laugh at themselves any more without getting offended. I would have... more

| 3. Dream Of The Rarebit Fiend: The Saturdays |
|
By: Winsor McCay Publisher: Checker Book Publishing Group November 25, 2006
"Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend" is McCay's overlooked masterpiece. "Little Nemo" gets more press (and don't get me wrong - it deserves the highest possible praise) but The Fiend is often equally compelling and more psychologically insightful. More adult in subject matter than Nemo, it is less visually resplendant, but still quite powerful in its invocation of the fears and hopes underlying our day-to... more

| 5. Little Nemo: 1905-1914 (Evergreen) |
|
By: Winsor McCay Publisher: Taschen April 01, 2000
This collection of Little Nemo comics contains every Little Nemo in Slumberland and In the Land of Wonderful Dreams strip in a nice hardcover book. While bigger than a standard comic book (about the size as one of DC's "Absolute" editions), the pages are actually smaller than original 16x20 newspaper pages. For the price, however, it's hard to beat this book.
Little Nemo follows the adventures... more

| 6. Little Nemo in Slumberland 2010 Calendar (Sunday Press Classic Comics Calendars) |
|
By: Winsor McCay Publisher: Sunday Press Books 2009
The only drawback to Sunday Press's two magnificent collections of "Little Nemo in Slumberland" is that their size, so necessary to convey the wonder of McCay's creation, makes them difficult to share outside of one's home. This calendar helps remedy that problem.
Though not quite as large as the book pages, these 12 X 16 pages show off the Nemo dreams and nightmares quite nicely, with... more

| 7. Little Nemo in the Palace of Ice and Further Adventures |
|
By: Winsor McCay Publisher: Dover Publications June 01, 1976
For the person asking. This is an affordable fairly large color reproduction of a story McCay told over consecutive weeks in newspapers during the turn of the century. Sometimes McCay would draw stand alone pages. Sometimes Little Nemo would dream a connected story over weeks - but of course he would always wake up at the end of exch strip. This is one of those. The book uses original collected color... more

| 8. Little Nemo In Slumberland HC Volume 2 Limited Edition |
|
By: Winsor McCay Publisher: Checker Book Publishing Group May 29, 2007
Give Checker Book Publishing their due: they have mined the Winsor McCay motherload with great diligence. The physical dimensions of their books have often resulted in reprints that are of academic value only, but even that is better than all the gaps that have existed between infrequent and incomplete printings of "Dreams of the Rarebit Fiend" and "Little Nemo." McCay's work is not easy to reprint... more

| 9. Little Sammy Sneeze |
|
From: Sunday Press Books Publisher: Sunday Press Books June 30, 2007
At first glance, Winsor McCay's "Little Sammy Sneeze" comes across as the most unappealing of comic strips: all about a dull-looking, homely boy whose sole sign of life is to cock his head back and deliver a sneeze of monstrous proportions. This went on as a regular feature for about two years. And the most peculiar thing about it: it's frequently hilarious.
Though Sammy is the regular... more

By: Winsor McCay Publisher: Fantagraphics Books November 30, 2005
What a major disappointment. I'm a huge fan of Winsor McCay, and much of the comments here seem to focus on the fact that Fantagraphics is reprinting this book. Well, great, but I wish that they would have taken some more time in writing it. This book is for people who can't get enough of McCay's marvelous work but the Little Nemo collections and John Canemaker's definitive biography would be a... more
