First, the quality of the product. Very nice oversized binding. Great dustjacket with great cover by Romita Jr and back by Alan Davis. Has some great shelf appeal, although I'm not sure why they went with military style stencils for the title. I am old enough that I collected the individual issues that make up this collection that tells the story of the Mutant Massacre. I remember the build... more

| 2. World of Warcraft Vol. 2 HC |
|
By: Walter Simonson Publisher: WildStorm September 01, 2009
After what I thought was an excellent introduction to the World of Warcraft in the first hard cover graphic novel set, I was disappointed with the conclusion in this followup. After reading the first World of Warcraft graphic novel collection, I read WoW:Ashbringer and wasn't impressed with it so I was really looking forward to this followup. I don't want to be completely negative about it in this... more

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's been a long time since I've read a comic that introduced to me a world that I looked forward to exploring more. Books like this leave me looking forward to future issues. If I had more time in my schedule, I would definitely have signed up for an online account. I'm sure that's partly what Blizzard Entertainment had in mind when they decided to put this book... more

| 4. Thor Visionaries - Walter Simonson, Vol. 2 (v. 2) |
|
By: Walter Simonson Publisher: Marvel Comics June 17, 2009
There are many reasons as to why Walter Simonson has long been considered the high point of the grade curve - all pointed to in other reviews. It is enough to know that the entire Simonson Thor Visionaries set is all the discerning need(s) to own within the Marvel Thor franchise. ... more

By: Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, John Byrne, Marc Silvestri, Bret Blevins, Walter Simonson, Jon Bogdanove By: John Byrne Publisher: Marvel Comics July 01, 2009
Really? An easter egg shaped woman who steals babies into a spaceship and a annoying little boy who turns his wheelchair into a spaceships, cars and computers with the aid of a trachcan. For every page of interesting character motives we get 3 pages of crap. I sold this garbage the day after I finished it... more

| 6. X-Men: The Fall of the Mutants (X-Men) |
|
By: Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson Publisher: Marvel Entertainment Group 2002-02
Great old school classic X-men. Written and drawn with great skill that brings you back to the times when the X-men stories were the best. I first read this in 1990 when I borrowed it from my friend. I was blown away and read it many times. Now almost 20 years later, I went and bought it and it is still a good read . ... more

| 7. Thor Visionaries - Walter Simonson, Vol. 1 (v. 1) |
|
By: Walter Simonson By: Walter Simonson Publisher: Marvel Comics January 28, 2009
I bought this after the volumes by Simonson bout his run on Fantastic Four. I think that his kind of art suites better to a scifi series (He is more confortable with machineries and hi tech gadgets, not to mention his cinetics lines or the "jack kirby" energetic bubbles he draws). The story is not one I am mad about, but, thinking at the period when it was written, I think it should be quite good... more

By: Walter Simonson Publisher: Marvel Comics June 17, 2009
I am a big fan of Walter Simonson but had never read his run on Thor because I didn't start collecting comics until after it was over (and well, I think I was in elementary school during that time as well, so Archie was more my thing). But I remember hearing a lot of great things about it and in my book, you can never go wrong with his artwork. In this third Marvel Visionaries: Walter Simonson: The... more

| 9. Thor Visionaries - Walter Simonson, Vol. 5 (v. 5) |
|
By: Walter Simonson Publisher: Marvel Comics March 05, 2008
Walt Simonson's famous Thor run is currently collected in 5 trade paperbacks; he writes & draws the 1st three, and then mostly just writes the last two. My favorite volumes are the 1st three, but the entire run is really well done.
Highlights here for me... *Issue 375- Thor gets a golden arm. Tony Stark's special gift to Thor helps him with his broken arm. *Issue 376- Absorbing... more
