By: Tony Millionaire By: Tony Millionaire Publisher: Dark Horse October 21, 2009
The Art of Tony Millionaire is both a beautiful coffee table book and a long narrative of the artist's life, from growing up in an artistic family to his establishment of himself in the profession. Musician Elvis Costello opens the book with an explanation of what it's like to make a career as an artist with an assumed name, and the various pressures that result, like in the case of Mark Twain or Lewis... more

|
By: Tony Millionaire Publisher: Fantagraphics Books March 15, 2009
Maakies is brilliant & depraved, literate & stupid & hilarious. The artwork is glorious, timeless, ranging from intricately beautiful to laughably crude. I don't often laugh out loud at things I read, but Maakies makes me do it frequently.
I would recommend getting the original Maakies paperback collection (now out of print) if you can find one used for a good price. I own... more

Maakies is a perfect combination of self-confessed horror and failure in life and self-motivated artistic brass.
Smart people who loved Bukowski will probably like Maakies very much, and Millionaire deserves to make lots of money for his inspired work, so buy several copies. ... more

|
By: Tony Millionaire Publisher: Dark Horse September 28, 2005
I've had one of Tony Millionnaire's licensed Sock Monkey stuffed animals sitting in the front seat of my truck for years, and everyone loves him. Why? Because he is Sock Monkey!
Granted, I make the point that this is "Tony Millionnaire's Sock Monkey," also known as "Uncle Gabby," to be precise, but it doesn't matter. A sock monkey in the cab of a pickup truck is all that anyone in... more

This book has delighted my children and the children of a friend as well. It has a sense of wonderment to it and it explains the changes of light through the seasons. We actually bought a glass doorknob and a sock monkey after reading the book. ... more

By: Mike Mignola, Gary Gianni, Tony Millionaire, Jill Thompson, Scott Morse By: Mike Mignola, Tony Millionaire, Jill Thompson, Scott Morse Publisher: Dark Horse July 14, 2004
This is an interesting collection. As well as the comic part it includes a story by Clark Ashton Smith, with illustrations, and an interview with a New York wiccan leader.
Best of all, and a very pleasant surprise, is a Hellboy tale.
There is also a pretty cute story of dogs and one stand up cat saving the world from a ritual to summon Sekhmet. Top marks to Evan Dorkin for... more

Where were YOU on the morning of September 11th, 2001? I was at work when Howard Stern reported that a plane had crashed into one of the World Trade Center Towers. Having been born and raised in The Bronx before moving to Rochester, N.Y., my workday immediately ended as I focused my full attention on Howard's show; He became my only link to the city I loved and would always call home. Later on came... more

By: Tony Millionaire Publisher: Fantagraphics Books October 18, 2006
If you've ever seen the Drinky Crow Show on Cartoon Networks Adult Swim this is pretty much it except in book form. Maakies is filled with drinking jokes and suicides and extreme violence and vomiting and sailing ships and French alligators and all the staples of the Drinky Crow Show except in this case everything is turned up to the maximum. Maakies is FAR raunchier when it comes to sexual jokes including... more
