| 1. Richard Matheson's I Am Legend |
|
By: Steve Niles Publisher: IDW Publishing November 15, 2007
This book is extremely dark. It takes a strange turn when he notices people he use to know in his past life. Every night they throw rocks at his house and screming at him to come out, trying to drive him to insanity. He keeps having visions in his sleep of his past love named Virgina. This is a book you should definately read in daytime. This book is very different from the movie that recently came... more

By: Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith Publisher: IDW Publishing April 21, 2004
This item is marketed as a "book" on this site, and although technically it is a "book", it's actually what is called an "illustrated book", or a "graphic novel" - or in other words, it's actually just a longer comic book that has been bound as a regular paperback book. It's a story that is told mainly with "illustrations", where the only reading is the balloons over the characters. I would call... more

| 4. 28 Days Later |
|
By: Steve Niles Publisher: Fox Atomic January 01, 2007
I'm a big fan of the 28 Days/Weeks Later movies and picked this graphic novel up in a second hand store not long after seeing 28 Weeks Later. I haven't read any Steve Niles work before, but on first glance this graphic novel looked interesting. The novel, which comprises four chapters, starts off promisingly enough, although like other reviewers I had trouble figuring out what was happening in the... more

| 8. Immortal Remains: 30 Days of Night (v. 2) |
|
By: Steve Niles, Jeff Mariotte Publisher: Pocket Star July 31, 2007
The best thing about the original '30 Days of Night' book (and to a lesser extent, film) was the vampires as insatiable, violent, force-of-nature---nearly a-human despite parts of their appearance. By the time we get to this book, we have much more human vampires, physically and mentally, with good ones, bad ones, funny ones, married ones, and one who sure seems to be bucking for 'vampire with a soul'... more

By: Steve Niles, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Justin Randall Publisher: IDW Publishing November 21, 2007
If you haven't read the first, second, and third book about the struggles in Barrow, you need to return there first. The first and second book are especially worth visiting, and all are referenced here. So, if you read on, you might spoil something. Consider yourself warned if you didn't read the first novels now.
After the second 30 Days of night, we found our beloved sheriff's... more

I am not a big comic book guy. I own very few, but I find that the ones I do own get read pretty regularly.
If you have any interest in the horror/vampire genre, then this is going to be a good choice for you. It is a well put together story that leads well into the follow up volumes.
The only real complaint I have here is the art. It leans toward the abstract and while many... more
