I really enjoy the old archive comics, the dc comics archives, the new Jack Kirby collections, etc. I have dozens of them, so I thought that this book would be a no brainer; unfortunately it's only ok. The first 100 pages are great, (Kirby, Ditko) but I kind of wish I could have just purchased that section alone. There is some pretty bad art in here. I bought the book at close to 40% off and I'd... more

This is a great book! I am a big comic book fan. I love how big it is. The artwork is GREAT the story is awesome.
Yes it is full color. It's in a very handsome hard-cover. I lost the dustcover for mine :(. Actually never got to see it(though this was not Amazon's fault at all).
A bit pricy but I don't care abiout that. This book is going in my collection... more

| By: Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Don Heck, Paul Reinman Publisher: Marvel Comics September 19, 2007
Stan Lee the man of thousand ideas. Before Stan Lee committed himself to super heroes the variety of his ideas spread from horizon to horizon. This book is evidence for that. Everything was possible. You get crime, monsters, SF, horror, history, mystery, and ... more than you can imagine. Each of these 68 short stories are well worth reading and some of them are classics. For example a story which... more

| | 6. The Art of Steve Ditko |
| By: Steve Ditko, Stan Lee (Introduction) Publisher: Idea & Design Works Llc January 13, 2010
Let's get my one complaint out of the way: This isn't an art book. It's a collection of a lot of public-domain stories by the great Steve Ditko (cocreator of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange and iconoclastic artist of underground comics like Mr. A), but it is not a book about him or his art.
Despite that little labeling gaffe, the book does present us with nearly 200 pages of rare Ditko... more

Spidey fans, this is the foundation-in affordable form.
These are the original stories from 1962-63 that brought the Spider Man legend to the world.

How well do you know your comics history? You'll know it better after Marvel Comics in the 1960s, a retrospective look back at the "House of Ideas" in their burgeoning heyday.

| | 10. Essential Dr Strange: v. 1: Strange Tales (Tpb Vol 1) |
| By: Stan Lee, Steve Ditko Publisher: Panini (UK) Ltd. December 01, 2004
The main attraction of this collection is Ditko's art & stories. The best was the ongoing conflict involving Dormammu and Baron Mordo, wherein Dr. Strange really had to learn rely on himself, as the Ancient One was in a coma for most of the run, and to use his wits, even when his hands and lips were immobilized so he couldn't weave his typical magic spells. In the earliest stories, Dr. Strange... more
