| 1. Magic Pickle Vs. The Egg Poacher |
| By: Scott Morse Publisher: GRAPHIX March 01, 2008
My son doesn't read that much, unless he likes it and then he can't put it down. This is one of those books! ... more

| | 2. Magic Pickle And The Garden Of Evil |
| By: Scott Morse Publisher: GRAPHIX May 01, 2009
This is a fast-moving book that is part graphic comic and part tween chapter book. The characters are standard, but likely to keep this age group's attention, the prose is quick and funny, and the story is perfectly suited for the attention span of ten-year-old boys. When a class plants a garden, the result is not quite what they expected! Follow the exploits of a dueling pickle and head of lettuce... more

| | 5. Magic Pickle Graphic Novel |
| By: Scott Morse Publisher: GRAPHIX May 01, 2008
We actually bought this book to replace a library copy our daughter had lost. What can I say, it is a "gaphic novel" what in my day we would have called a comic book, about a Superhero pickle (?) A lot of color panels, many "Pow" "smash" and Kerpows"! Our 9 year old liked it, and if it can get a kid to read, that is a plus. Have them set down the Nintendo and pick up the Magic Pickle!... more

| | 6. Tales of the Vampires (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) |
| By: Joss Whedon, Ben Edlund, Jane Espensen, Brett Matthews, Drew Goddard, Tim Sale, Scott Morse, Mike Mignola By: Joss Whedon, Ben Edlund, Jane Espensen, Brett Matthews, Drew Goddard, Tim Sale, Scott Morse, Mike Mignola Publisher: Dark Horse December 15, 2004
This is a graphic novel with twelve unique vampire stories that fit into the buffyverse continuity. Each tale is framed by one continuous story by Joss Whedon. The stories are by different authors and illustrated by different artists. Some work better than others. My favorites are "Father," "The Problem with Vampires," "Numb" and the story that weaves in and out of the collection, "Tales of the Vampires."... more

| By: Greg Rucka, Antony Johnston, Brian Hurtt, Scott Morse, Rick Burchett, Christopher J. Mitten Publisher: Oni Press May 13, 2009
Great read, if only there were more! Only the infamous kettle plug gives the game away that it's origins are US, well that and the baseball cap the SAS instructor is wearing, but honestly a great read well worth the purchase... more

| | 8. Beeswax: Production, Harvesting, Processing and Products |
| By: Mary A. Scott, Susan Sarabasha Publisher: Wicwas Pr 1984-06
A really, really good book! Combines comprehensive discussion of the composition and properties of beeswax with practical advice on its refinement and use, especially in the manufacture of candles.
If "Beeswax" were updated I imagine it would include the latest on pesticide contamination and modern issues of concern to beekeepers and craftspeople working with beeswax. But while 25... more

| | 9. Hellboy: Weird Tales, Vol. 2 |
| By: John Cassaday, P. Craig Russell, Scott Morse, Evan Dorkin, Jill Thompson By: John Cassaday, P. Craig Russell, Scott Morse, Evan Dorkin, Jill Thompson Publisher: Dark Horse October 20, 2004
Liked Hellboy Weird Tales 1 better than two. The stories in volume 1 are all excellent except "the children of black mound". Which seemed not related to the Hellboy series. All the art are distinct in styles but the characters are consistent. Not only Hellboy but Liz Sherman, Abraham, Roger, Katie Corrigan, other members are great too. Hellboy is tough and raunchy but also compassionate and a good... more

| By: Mike Mignola, Gary Gianni, Tony Millionaire, Jill Thompson, Scott Morse By: Mike Mignola, Tony Millionaire, Jill Thompson, Scott Morse Publisher: Dark Horse July 14, 2004
This is an interesting collection. As well as the comic part it includes a story by Clark Ashton Smith, with illustrations, and an interview with a New York wiccan leader.
Best of all, and a very pleasant surprise, is a Hellboy tale.
There is also a pretty cute story of dogs and one stand up cat saving the world from a ritual to summon Sekhmet. Top marks to Evan Dorkin for... more
