| 2. Batman: War Games, Act Two - Tides |
|
By: Ed Brubaker, Bill Willingham Publisher: DC Comics July 01, 2005
Great novel, definitely would reccomend this book which is the second in the trilogy. The conclusion to this novel is terrific and the introduction of the villian in it is amazing. Check out this book and the other two in the war games trilogy along with the prelude. Together they form one of the best Batman storylines i've read to date.

| 3. Jonah Hex: Guns of Vengeance |
|
By: Jimmy; Gray, Justin Palmiotti Publisher: DC Comics 2007
Before buying into the Jonah Hex series with this first volume I was told time and time again that this is a book I should be reading from people whos opinions I genuinly trust. I must say I was very disappointed. This basically reads as I would imagine old time radio western serials would sound. If this is a genre and style you like then you will love this yet for me it just seems disjointed meaning... more

| 4. Star Wars: Crimson Empire, Volume 1 |
|
By: Mike Richardson, Randy Stradley, Paul Gulacy, P. Craig Russell Publisher: Dark Horse December 02, 1998
One of the real virtues of Star Wars was its ability to hint about the larger universe. Minor characters who lurked in the background seemed to have histories and stories behind them, stories viewers wanted to explore.
One of the more intriguing ones was the Emperor's Crimson Guard in Return of the Jedi. They never speak, they never do anything, they just lurk around him looking impressive... more

| 5. Star Wars-Crimson Empire: Council of Blood, Volume 2 |
|
By: Mike Richardson, Randy Stradley, Paul Gulacy, Randy Emberlin Publisher: Dark Horse December 13, 1999
Crimson Empire II continues the story of Kir Kanos, last of the Emperor's Crimson Guard out to avenge the Emperor by killing everyone responsible for his death.
The first book was fairly clear-cut, focusing on the battle between Kanos and a renegade Crimson Guardsman responsible for killing the Emperor's clone bodies. But this is one is all over the map. It introduces several new factions... more

| 6. Penance: Relentless TPB |
|
By: Paul Jenkins, Paul Gulacy Publisher: Marvel Comics July 02, 2008
"Penance: Relentless" follows the New Warriors' Speedball as he is consumed with guilt over the Stamford tragedy. He reads Marquis de Sade and creates a spiked bondage suit that's more S&M than superhero. It's an intriguing concept, one first dealt with in Warren Ellis's "Thunderbolts". In "Relentless," Speedball (now calling himself Penance) weaves his way through a plot that feels more contrived... more

| 7. Squadron Supreme: Hyperion Vs. Nighthawk TPB |
|
By: Marc Guggenheim, Paul Gulacy Publisher: Marvel Comics August 08, 2007
i liked the story and i love the Supreme Power MAX stories and this one didnt dissappoint. i liked the story and the art was cool (although Hyperion was WAY more muscular here than in the other books) all around enjoyable.
And you get to learn about what's going on in other countries. Loved that part about story... more

| 8. Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collection, Volume 10: Crimson Empire |
|
By: Mike Richardson, Randy Stradley Publisher: Dark Horse Comics 2007
I've long considered Dark Horse to be the smartest and most resourceful comic book publisher. When they started out over twenty years ago, they made the conscious decision to not try to take on Marvel and DC at their own game. Instead, they published truly unique titles such as Concrete and Hellboy and were aggressive in obtaining the licenses to popular movie franchise like Aliens, Predator, and... more

| 9. Six From Sirius |
|
By: Doug Moench, Paul Gulacy Publisher: Dynamite Entertainment November 09, 2005
This book compiles the mini-series that Epic Comics distributed in the late 1980s. It was an exciting time, and Epic led the way, not just with its self-titled flagship magazine.
The "six" represent a super-secret trouble shooting team, the kind with lots of trouble and lots of shooting. This time, their mission seems straightforward enough: free the lovely ambassador from the impenetrable... more

| 10. The Punisher: Very Special Holidays |
|
By: Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, Andy Diggle Publisher: Marvel Comics December 06, 2006
When it comes to the Punisher, Garth Ennis is about the only modern writer to truly "get" the character and nail him down. That's one reason why none of the one-shots collected in Punisher: Very Special Holidays work. Written by the writing tandem of veteran inker Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray (both of whom did an excellent job on DC's new Jonah Hex series), Very Special Holidays follows Frank... more
