I almost got scared off from buying this product because I read in a few message boards that this was the point in the series where it begins to decline. Having finished reading this last night, I have to completely disagree with those statements. Not only do I think this volume continues the series faithfully, but anyone who doesn't read this volume after reading the last two is really missing out... more

When I got the BPRD series, I took them to work and shared them with those of my co-workers who read Hellboy and BPRD. Everyone liked them. Of course, I like them, too... more

| 3. Powers Vol. 12: The 25 Coolest Dead Superheroes of All Time |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Marvel Books April 15, 2009
wow, I have been continuously amazed by this series, and while I was initially critical of the art, it's Toth influenced design and ability to convey human emotion even in the environment won me over completely. This trade paperback draws together the many threads from which this story has been woven into a satisfying conclusion. I can only hope for more. ... more

| 4. Powers Vol. 1: Who Killed Retro Girl? (Vol 1) |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Image Comics September 06, 2006
I guess Bendis is under the impressing that crime drama should have dull and redundant dialogue. Not only is the dialogue boring but the artwork is so simplistic that you are left with nothing else to look at as each character repeats themself over and over and over. It is like watching one of those police chases on T.V. where the reporter need to keep talking but don't have anything new to say so... more

| 5. Avengers Disassembled: Thor |
|
By: Michael Avon Oeming, Andrea Divito Publisher: Marvel Comics December 15, 2004
I wish to heaven that I had listened to the negative reviews. This is a terribly executed story. I know, it's a Thor story about Ragnarok, which by all rights ought to be totally awesome. After all, Thor is at his best in stories set in Asgard, with the other gods. So the epic battle at the end of the world ought to be pretty sweet.
Well, there are no epic battles in this book. ... more

| 6. Powers: The Definitive Collection, Vol. 2 |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Marvel Comics February 18, 2009
The stories in this issue are stronger than the previous volume, which means that they are better then almost all of what is currently on the shelves. Problems with production values though are still present. They come in the form of art that at many spots looks scanned from inferior copies and also binding of pages that leaves some art/dialogue difficult to read. These problems are much less noticeable... more

By: Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Avon Oeming Publisher: Marvel Comics November 07, 2007
I've been waiting for this trade ever since my local comic store got me hooked into this title a couple of years ago. For those of us avoiding buying the serial so we could have nice thick trades on our shelves it's been very frustrating watching Marvel push the release date back and back and back (especially considering that the book already existed in comic book form - have you guys ever heard of... more

| 10. Powers Vol. 2: Roleplay (v. 2) |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Image Comics January 04, 2002
A group of youths indulge in a role playing game that involves running around in costumes, which is illegal under the law. This adds to the spice in this costumed version of 'Killer'. When they unfortunately run into a real power on their escapades things go terribly, terribly wrong. A much more low level case for the detectives.
