| 1. Thor, Vol. 3 |
| By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics February 17, 2010
J. Michael Straczynski came onto "Thor" with the launch of the current volume (after twelve issues renumbered to continue the combined numberings of all previous volumes), and now, after 16 issues, it concludes in this volume, which collects issues 601-603 and the "Defining Moments" special (which is effectively #604). The previous two volumes were generally of good quality, albeit with flaws, and... more

| | 2. Thor, Vol. 2 |
| By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics September 09, 2009
I recently got into Thor and I must say, it is a good time to start. The pencilling and coloring is great, the art really jumps off the pages and is exactly what I would imagine the denizens of Asgard to look like. The writing is also spectacular, from the misguided nobility of Balder, to the machinations of Loki to the heroic deeds of Thor. This collection is a must have for any comic fan... more

| | 3. Thor, Vol. 1 |
| By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics August 27, 2008
"Thor, v.1" Written by J. Michael Straczynski Illustrated by Olivier Coipel (Marvel Comics, 2008) --------------------------------------- Although it took me a while to get over the disappointment that Marvel didn't stick to their guns with the Big Event-Death Of Thor storyline from a while back, once I got into it, this was a pretty fun series. The new scenario -- Thor... more

| | 5. The Road to Civil War |
| By: Brian Michael Bendis, J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics March 07, 2007
I had been hearing about the Civil War Series of comics and wanted to check them out. First they were delivered in a rapid fashion and well packaged. The story was fascinating and the artwork superb. The major players (Iron Man, The Submariner) provided a good framework for the development of the cause of the War... more

| | 6. Civil War: Amazing Spider-Man |
| By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics May 16, 2007
This is a very good feeder story for the overall Civil War event. Spider-Man has always been one of the most compelling characters in the Marvel universe and this book is no different. What I really enjoyed was the portrayal of Parker as a guy who has a good heart but is still looking for a father figure. Like the line in Platoon he is "a child born of those two fathers, fighting for possession... more

| | 7. The Complete Book of Scriptwriting |
| By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Writers Digest Books July 01, 2002
The Complete Book of Scriptwriting is an excellent book to begin with in terms of scriptwriting. It gives you a good idea on one of the most important aspects of scriptwriting, selling. It serves as a good learning tool and gives you a few points on how to go after deals. It's also a good book if you are just interested in Hollywood and would like to know more about the business side. If you are interested... more

| | 9. Civil War: Fantastic Four |
| By: J. Michael Straczynski, Dwayne McDuffie Publisher: Marvel Comics May 23, 2007
Not really a bad book if your a big fan of the FF, but other reviewers have listed this book as essential to the civil war storyline. I strongly disagree. The only thing that happens in this collection that isn't mentioned in the core civil war book is the part about the thing leaving the country, which is completely unnecessary and campy compared what it should have been. So if your a FF fan then... more

| | 10. Spider-Man: One More Day |
| By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics September 10, 2008
I loved JMS run on Amazing Spider-Man. Sadly this collection did not live up to his previous works. The whole Back in Black storyline in which Aunt May had been shot and was on deaths door led into this storyline. All that hype for NOTHING. To quote the classic 90's song: "Don't believe the hype!"
****SPOILER ALERT****
In the end it was Mephisto who saved May's life... more
