| 1. Batman: Arkham Asylum (15th Anniversary Edition) |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: DC Comics November 01, 2005
admittingly, it doesn't have much violence, but it does dig deep into Arkham's history. Also, i love how you get a feel for the different characters voices with their type. Like Joker's hand drawn, crimson mess style of speech represents how chilling his voice is when heard. Plus you get a look at how Batman feels about his enemies and how they feel about being in a madhouse... more

| 2. Final Crisis |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: DC Comics June 16, 2009
I am a huge Grant Morrison fan, which is why I still bought Final Crisis despite hearing nothing but terrible (to put it kindly) reviews. Even though GM is one of my favorite authors and I usually find his work to be brilliant, when he fails he does so spectacularly. This is quite possibly his most epic failure yet, despite what seems to be lots of inspired potential for the storyline, the execution... more

| 3. Irredeemable: Volume 1 |
|
By: Mark Waid Publisher: BOOM! Studios October 06, 2009
Since the 80s Squadron Supreme series there's been a whole sub-genere of comics that star thinly-veiled versions of Superman or the Justice League allowing writers to tell stories DC would never allow. Some like Alan Moore's Supreme or Robert Kirkman's Invincible have risen beyond their status as knocks-offs and become true classics. Others have failed miserably.
So where does Mark... more

| 4. Batman: R.I.P. |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: DC Comics February 10, 2009
You'll need to read Batman and Son, The Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul and The Black Glove to see the whole picture making sense. Many may criticize Grant Morrison but he brought back black novels and dark stories to Batman. Kudos to him and all who contributed in these complex and smart stories. Zur En Arrh!... more

| 6. All Star Superman, Vol. 1 |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: DC Comics September 02, 2008
I wasn't all that impressed with this. The art was ok, but too much psuedo science and non relevant fluff to enjoy it. Now Red Son, which I just read, was fantastic. There are plenty of other great Superman stories to enjoy. I wish I had read this before ordering Part 2 as well... more

| 7. Batman and Son |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: DC Comics July 22, 2008
I just read this Batman collection again and found a much greater appreciation for these stories than I did the first time around (not that they were all that bad to begin with).
Of course, Grant Morrison's run on Batman has gone on another two years since Batman & Son, so reading this now allows you to put some added perspective on what's going on here. First of all, you have the... more

| 8. We3 |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: Vertigo July 01, 2005
We3 is certainly not a graphic novel to read if you want an uplifting story. It is sad, angering, and thoughtful. It is also intelligent, insightful, and thought provoking. I certainly enjoyed reading it, though I didn't want to pick it up again for a few months. ... more

| 9. Batman: The Black Glove |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: DC Comics September 16, 2008
I would have to agree with the other reviewers where there are times where it seems I was missing something important, that there was some secondary plot hidden in the artwork or hinted at with character expression that I was not able to digest on the first reading. However it is more likely that this is just standard Morrison style of leaving the reader wanting, and the hints and allusions being... more
