| 1. Captain America: Road to Reborn |
| By: Ed Brubaker, Roger Stern, Mark Waid, Luke Ross, Gene Colan, Dale Eaglesham, Butch Guice Publisher: Marvel Comics February 17, 2010
There is little in the way of contribution here to the primary story line. While the extras interesting, I felt like I had paid too much for too little, at least compared to preceding publications. Hopefully, the next installment will have more solid content and less unrelated flash back stories. ... more

| | 2. Daredevil Omnibus, Vol. 1 |
| By: Ed Brubaker Publisher: Marvel Comics July 01, 2009
I always liked Daredevil. Frank Miller's Born Again is one of my all-time favorite comic stories and Brain Michael Bendis' run on DD is by far the best (in my opinion). Now Ed Brubaker takes over and it's no suprise he continues the very solid story-telling setup by Bendis and Miller. It's also one of the most depressing superhero stories in recent memory.
This omnibus collects the first... more

| By: Michael Chabon, Glen David Gold, Kevin McCarthy, Howard Chaykin, Bill Sienkiewicz, Steve Lieber, Gene Colan, Eric Wight Publisher: Dark Horse May 19, 2004
What fun to have real comic artists take a stab at creating the comics imagined in "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay". It's definitely light reading, but I enjoyed the artistry and creativity... more

| | 5. Essential Sub-Mariner, Vol. 1 (Marvel Essentials) (v. 1) |
| By: Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Raymond Marais, Archie Goodwin, Wally Wood, Gene Colan, Jack Kirby, Jerry Grandenetti, Bill Everett, Dan Adkins, Werner Roth, Marie Severin, John Buscema Publisher: Marvel Comics September 30, 2009
The stories are the usual mix melodrama, angst and adventure the usual inconsistencies, and repetitiveness of the stories that seems to be in large part from a much of the run being the shorter half-issue format, as the comic at the time was split between two characters. I take off stars because the great Gene Colan's art being destroyed by horrible inking by Vince Colletta, and don't reproduce very... more

| | 6. Tomb of Dracula Omnibus, Vol. 2 |
| By: Marv Wolfman, Steve Englehart, David Kraft, Gene Colan, Tom Palmer, Virgilio Redondo Publisher: Marvel Books December 16, 2009
"Tomb of Dracula" didn't get off to an auspicious start in the '70s. With the character of Dracula squarely in the public domain, the book seemed to be riding the horror fad of the day, an easy way for Marvel to make a buck. The comic went through several scripters in its first batch of issues, and then Marv Wolfman came along and fleshed out the character of the lord of the undead. In his capable... more

| | 8. Essential Moon Knight, Vol. 1 (Marvel Essentials) |
| By: Doug Moench, Bill Mantlo, Steven Grant Publisher: Marvel Comics March 15, 2006
Moon Knight is an awesome character. He has so many dimensions and a lot of potential. The writers however seemed intent on not utilizing this potential as well as they could have. As I read each issue I wrote little mini-reviews of them and my thoughts on them. I also addressed things about the series as a whole that annoy me. It might sound like I hate it but while some of it is just plain bad I... more

| | 10. Aliens Omnibus Volume 6 (v. 6) |
| By: Mark Schultz, Chuck Dixon, Ian Edginton, Others, Doug Wheatley, Gene Colan, Eduardo Risso By: Others Publisher: Dark Horse February 11, 2009
Worth it just for the story "Glass Corridor", one of the best Aliens stories that I have read yet. Very interesting art style in this story too.
This volume also includes great stories, such as : Apocalypse, Border Lines, Elder Gods (which has an amusing Lovecraft gag running through it), stalker, and Wraith. There are some other OK stories too, such as Pig and Purge.
