| 1. Life Inc.: How the World Became a Corporation and How to Take It Back |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Random House June 02, 2009
A movie version? You wont see it... It would just be way too threatening and difficult. The corporate reviewer was of course a bit negative, in part probably for the same reasons... one might as well have said it was conspiracy theory and moved on, collecting his check too.
It could have been a quick read, but I took it slowly. I dont review books here (a handful)more

| 2. Meta-Magick: The Book of ATEM: Achieving New States of Consciousness Through NLP, Neuroscience and Ritual |
|
By: Philip H. Farber Publisher: Weiser Books 2008-07
After interviewing Phil and reading his book Meta-Magick: The Book of ATEM, I must say that even the two combined (his interview and book) one couldn't completely encapsulate all of magick and advanced NLP throughout either means of exposure. Nonetheless, Phil has done an absolutely excellent job of putting this all in print for those of you able to grasp the meaning. http://www.MonaMagick.com... more

| 3. Coercion |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Macmillan Audio 1999-08
This is an engrossing read, complete with the examples, stories, and clear cult-like strategies that our manipulative consumer culture has created.
I was immediately a fan of the author's research, which I thought was extensive and well-focused. He produces numerous examples of manipulative psychology at work in the mall, car dealerships, and multi-level marketing pyramids. more

| 4. Nothing Sacred: The Truth About Judaism |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Three Rivers Press March 23, 2004
Nothing Sacred is a fascinating look at the Jewish faith through the eyes of Douglas Rushkoff. Rushkoff's writing is characterized by a combination of deep intellectual reflection, systems and chaos theory, and media commentary - and Nothing Sacred is no exception. This book is worth a read if you're a Rushkoff fan, but is targeted towards those interested Judaism or of Jewish descent. more

| 5. Media Virus! |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Ballantine Books February 06, 1996
This book is simply amazing! Although not for everyone - if you are interested in viral marketing, systems engineering/systems thinking, chaos theory, and how the mass media works, then this book is for you. What first brought my attention to this book was that it has been referenced as one of the first to reference and explain the concept of viral marketing. My expectation was that this book would... more

| 6. Exit Strategy |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Soft Skull Press June 10, 2002
I first learned about this book through Yahoo! Internet Life, when they still published the darn thing, and they printed a chapter in the magazine from the book along with information on how to contribute. Never got around to creating any footnotes, but I did buy a copy as soon as I remembered it's existence.
Unfortunately, the copy I got at the bookstore was missing some pages. I... more

| 7. Testament: Akedah |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Vertigo July 26, 2006
Testament feels good. You end up knowing the take is different than anything you've read. It's propositive and gets you thinking about new ways to handle the myth. However, it fails to close completely. It's like it's a great concept behind, but the implementation is somewhat not as good. The storytelling is good, but characters aren't so fleshed out.
In other words, read it, though it... more

| 8. Get Back in the Box: How Being Great at What You Do Is Great for Business |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Harper Paperbacks January 30, 2007
After reading 'Get Back in the Box' and watching the press run up to Rushkoff's latest, Life Inc., I'm puzzled. Many of the stories that Rushkoff cites as impetus for creating Life Inc are thoroughly covered in 'Get Back in the Box'.
And stories they are. While much of the anecdotal evidence is entertaining it remains personal opinion and observation. Rushkoff's message is one, ultimately... more

| 9. Cyberia: Life in the Trenches of Hyperspace |
|
By: Douglas Rushkoff Publisher: Harpercollins 1995-04
Under the guise of being a "theory" and "lifestyle" view of the communities arising around cyberspace, this book bats around the usual suspects - chaos theory, new cultures, modern life - and then degrades into a comparison between computer use and drugs. I will not deny the role drugs, specifically marijuana and LSD, have in computers, but to claim cyberspace requires much talk about drugs because... more
