| 1. The DC Comics Guide to Writing Comics |
|
By: Dennis O'Neil Publisher: Watson-Guptill June 01, 2001
This is a solid overview of how to write a comic. Decent for the price it is a good text for an introduction into the art of comic script writing. For a more thorough look I highly recommend Scott McCloud's Making Comics. ... more

| 2. Batman: No Man's Land, Vol. 2 |
|
By: Greg Rucka, Bob Gale, Ian Edginton, Dennis O'Neil, Lisa Klink Publisher: DC Comics February 01, 2000
Three and a half stars.
Back in 1999, DC Comics came out with BATMAN: NO MAN'S LAND, a momentous year-long event which ran thru the Batman-related titles, including that of Nightwing and Robin (although, unfortunately, none of their issues were collected in the five No Man's Land trades). In the wake of the filovirus and the earthquake which ravaged Gotham and its denizens, Congress shockingly... more

| 3. The Question, Vol. 1: Zen and Violence |
|
By: Dennis O'Neil Publisher: DC Comics October 03, 2007
I first heard of the Question when the Justice League cartoon became Justice League Unlimited. He was introduced in "Fearful Symetry", and although his name was not mentioned, and he had no powers to speak of, I knew he was incredibly cool. I began researching his character, and my hopes of finding any comics about him dwindled. He was such a minor player, how could he ever get a compilation like Batman... more

| 4. Green Lantern/Green Arrow Collection - Volume 1 |
|
By: Dennis O'Neil, Neal Adams Publisher: DC Comics June 01, 2004
This is a great compilation of some of the best comic book art ever drawn. The volume is reprinted roughly the same size as the original comic books and on paper that is better than newsprint but will trigger memories of the originals. Printing on a newsprint-like paper is more in keeping with the original experience. The coloring seems to be original, or at least is in the spirit of the originals... more

| 5. Green Lantern/Green Arrow Collection - Volume 2 |
|
By: Dennis O'Neil, Elliot S. Maggin Publisher: DC Comics August 01, 2004
This one is as good as the first volume. One thing that I really like about this volume is that more stories are centered on Green Arrow. If you like the first one, you like this one... more

| 6. Batman Unauthorized: Vigilantes, Jokers, and Heroes in Gotham City (Smart Pop series) |
|
By: Alan J. Porter, Chris Roberson, Jake Black Publisher: Benbella Books February 09, 2008
"Batman Unauthorized" is a fun collection of essays concerning the Caped Crusader, his friends, his enemies, and his home, Gotham City.
As opposed to other so-called academic works I've read, the pieces are very readable and the introductory commentary by Denny O'Neal helps put the essays in context,
I have to give Darren Hudson Hick credit for his research on "The Cost... more

| 7. The Question Vol. 2: Poisoned Ground |
|
By: Dennis O'Neil Publisher: DC Comics May 13, 2008
The second collected The Question book from Dennis O'Neal's run really expands on the themes of the first. Here, you see what is going on inside The Question (Vic Sage)'s head, something that all recent works lack. If you are a fan of the grittier side of the DC universe, get this book... more

| 8. BATMAN: KNIGHTFALL |
|
By: Dennis O'Neil Publisher: Spectra June 01, 1995
Growing up, the original Knightfall saga was one of my favorite Batman story arcs. I figured that reading a novelization of the series would have provided deeper insight and more thorough descriptions that were not captured by the comic. However, just the opposite was true. The novel skipped a bunch of details and subthemes that I thought were important, and failed to provide anything to supplement... more
