| | 2. Beta Ray Bill: Godhunter TPB |
| By: Kieron Gillen, Kano, Dan Brereton Publisher: Marvel Comics November 04, 2009
You may not know a lot about Beta Ray Bill--upon first glance, you may ask yourself, "Why is that weird horse thing dressed up like Thor?" And such a question is completely acceptable, especially for the casual comic-book reader. And although the character is unfortunately steeped in mainstream obscurity, he has been a fan favorite for over 25 years and recently has finally been getting some much-needed... more

| | 3. Immortal Iron Fist, Vol. 2: The Seven Capital Cities of Heaven (v. 2) |
| By: Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction Publisher: Marvel Comics September 24, 2008
I really love this Iron Fist book. Volume one was amazing, and volume two is just as good. I love the other Immortal Weapons that are introduced in this story too. Great action, some good humor, and a nice resolution. Overall it's a fantastic read, and I'm just knocking off one star because it does drag just a bit towards the end. It could have probably been about one issue shorter. ... more

| | 5. *OP Werewolf Players Guide 2nd Ed (Werewolf: The Apocalypse) |
| By: Dan Brereton, Steve Prescott, Ron Spencer Publisher: White Wolf Publishing February 19, 1998
It pretty much lays out all the extra powers and traits for creating a more developed character. It also gives the basics for creating other werecreatures (which I think is a bonus more for the storytellers).
If you have the first edition though, don't bother. The only difference is a hard cover... more

| | 7. Batman: Thrillkiller (Batgirl, Robin) |
| By: Howard Chaykin Publisher: DC Comics October 01, 1998
After the mini-series,"The Golden Age","Thrillkiller" is my favorite Elseworlds tale from DC Comics.Back in the 60s these stories were known as imaginary tales,as if the stories from regular comic book continuity were somehow real. This series was set in an alternate universe during the early 1960s when Kennedy just became president and Elvis just got out of the army. The story by Howard Chaykin reads... more

| | 8. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vol. 1: The Dust Waltz |
| By: Dan Brereton, Rick Ketcham, Laura Allred Publisher: Dark Horse October 14, 1998
What a combination.
Bad art plus bad dialog plus completely unnecessary characters. (Giles' niece comes to Sunnydale! She's cute and flirts with Xander but the writer seems to forget she's there sometimes, and other times makes her more important than Buffy.)
The art is pretty terrible- everyone always looks like they're smiling, even when saying things like "Oh god!... more

| | 10. Nocturnals Volume 1: Black Planet (v. 1) |
| By: Dan Brereton By: Dan Brereton Publisher: Oni Press December 15, 1998
I was pleasently surprised that the story line is fairly unique and interesting. I expected it to be a bit cheesy and bought it as a guilty pleasure but the characters and story stand up quite well...it's no Alan Moore...but definately enjoyable... more
