| 1. X-Men: Messiah Complex |
| By: Mike Carey, Ed Brubaker, Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, Peter David Publisher: Marvel Comics April 30, 2008
While I read a lot of Marvel titles, I haven't kept up as well as I apparently need to in order to know all the characters in this crossover.
Some positives:
Even though this section is much smaller than my complaints below, I want to be clear that I enjoyed the storyline. The overall plot was well thought out, and I enjoyed reading the Summit notes at the end of the trade... more

| | 2. X-Force, Vol. 3: Not Forgotten |
| By: Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost Publisher: Marvel Comics January 20, 2010
X-Force isn't your typical X-book and for that I'm kind of glad. Don't get me wrong, I love me some X-books. It's just nice sometimes to get away from the ultra do-gooder mold the X-Men have been in since their creation. Which is exactly what X-Force is. It is a team that was created to take on those matters which are unbecoming for a regular character. Some think it's necessary, some don't. Either... more

| | 3. X-Force, Vol. 2: Old Ghosts |
| By: Christopher Yost, Craig Kyle Publisher: Marvel Comics September 23, 2009
I'm an X-Men fan from the 90s and I heard this book would be perfect for me. Wow, that couldn't be more wrong. There was little to no exposition so I was lost for huge chunks of the book. New readers, like myself, even though I do have some knowledge of the charcaters involved, are in for some head scratching. The art is too dark and makes it hard to determine exactly who and what is in each panel... more

| | 4. X-Force Vol. 1: Angels and Demons |
| By: Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost Publisher: Marvel Comics February 11, 2009
I enjoyed this book but not as much as I thought I would. It's a good quick read and sort of sets up the rest of the series. The art is not as bad as I feared but I'm not convinced by the plot going forward. Bringing back a bunch of dead villains is a bogey enough concept in my mind. I would've preferred to see newer & more dangerous villains but instead we get the old one's dragged out again... more

| | 5. X-Force/Cable: Messiah War |
| By: Duane Swierczynski, Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost Publisher: Marvel Comics August 26, 2009
I think this book is great but it has to many strong villians, and the can't developed all the characters deep enough, the art is really good (Ariel Olivetti hyperealism is awesome) but it real miss something, but I can't wait to the final chapter SECOND COMING... more

| | 7. X-Force/Cable: Messiah War |
| By: Duane Swierczynski, Craig Kyle, Christopher Yost, Clayton Crain, Larry Stroman, Ariel Olivetti Publisher: Marvel Comics January 20, 2010
I had to write this after reading the other customer review which claims that Utopia is the book to read. Not for this longtime X-men fan. The X-force title is the only vital X-men book in the fold lately, and this book is certainly a worthy follow-up to the Messiah Complex, although not as good as that collection.
The Bishop mini-series included at the end of the book should be read... more
