| 1. Daredevil Omnibus, Vol. 1 |
| By: Ed Brubaker Publisher: Marvel Comics July 01, 2009
What a fantastic book! I started reading Daredevil back when movie director Kevin Smith came on board to tell a story (back in the late '90's). Writer Brian Michael Bendis followed this up with five years of great stories that kept me hooked and pulled me in deeper to the character's history. Passing the torch to Ed Brubaker seemed a logical choice, as he has done fantastic work in similar stories... more

| | 3. Death: the time of your life |
| By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: Titan Books Ltd November 28, 1997
While not quite as good as the first Death book, this book is still a good addition to the Sandman universe. If you're curious about Foxglove and Hazel - appearing a couple of times in the Sandman series, one of the stories in this book features these two prominently. The extra Death pictures from various artists make for a great treat... more

What fun to have real comic artists take a stab at creating the comics imagined in "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay". It's definitely light reading, but I enjoyed the artistry and creativity... more

| | 7. X-Men: New Mutants Classic, Vol. 4 |
| By: Chris Claremont Publisher: Marvel Comics April 15, 2009
These New Mutants tpb's collect those good ol' new mutants comic book stories that weren't particularly complex or filled with cross-cross-overs between a zillion different galaxies and timelines. You could just sit down and read the story and that was that. Unfortunately the son of Xavier story line is not one of my favourites. However, the return of Karma-storyline is, and both are included. So... more

| | 9. X-Men: New Mutants Classic, Vol. 3 |
| By: Chris Claremont Publisher: Marvel Comics May 07, 2008
THE NEW MUTANTS was the first X-Men spinoff title and, back then in the '80s, I was a big enough fan of Marvel's merry mutants that I had to pick this up, never mind that artists Bob McLeod and Sal Buscema's stuff tended to be more of the workmanlike variety. Still, I liked Claremont's stories well enough (this was before his writing went south), and I dug the ethnic diversity represented by these... more

| | 10. Essential Moon Knight, Vol. 2 (Marvel Essentials) (v. 2) |
| By: Doug Moench, Jack S. Harris, Steven Grant, Alan Zelenetz, Denny O'Neil, Bill Sienkiewicz, Denys Cowan, Don Perlin, Vicente Alcazar, Jimmy James, Greg LaRocque, Keith Pollard, Eliot R. Brown, Frank Miller, Joe Brozowski, Kevin Nowlan Publisher: Marvel Comics October 31, 2007
This book is full of great writing by Moench, and great art from a couple of burgeoning artists. In MK Vol.2, we get to experience the beginning of Bill Sienkiewicz's career. After a few episodes, they really hit their stride. The storytelling gets really good both from an artwork perspective and through Moench's writing. (I will admit, though, that some of the dialog is a little stilted, but I... more
