| 1. Rip Kirby Volume 1 |

By: Alex Raymond By: Alex Raymond Publisher: IDW Publishing September 15, 2009
I was 8 years old when Rip Kirby first appeared on the pages of the daily newspaper to which our family subscribed. I was in love with Honey Dorian before I knew what love was. I was impressed with Rip Kirby and his faithful butler Desmond. While less loathsome than Dick Tracy's bad guys I nonetheless felt the apprehension of seeing the Mangler arise out of the waters of San Francisco Bay in his successful... more

Nice, but maybe a nicest printing could be done. A larger scale, with a better color treatment and a better restoration. The actual printing is not that bad, but I guess is all you can get with a cheap chinese printing... more

By: Alex Raymond Publisher: Checker Book Publishing Group December 15, 2004

Certainly, the few that are left are bland. None can compare the adventure strips of yore, and among these, Flash Gordon is one of the tops.
The title character is a near perfect... more

| 8. Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon, Vol. 4 (Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon) |
|
By: Alex Raymond Publisher: Checker Book Publishing Group June 01, 2006
I purchased Vol.3 and Vol.4 as gifts for my son, who is a professional animator. He was thrilled with both books! He already owned Vol.1 and Vol.2 and stated that the artist's technique and style development was clearly visible as one progresses through the volumes 1-4. Great "study" books for any animation artist... more

By: David Bomford, Jo Kirby, Ashok Roy, Alex Ruger, Raymond White Publisher: Yale University Press September 18, 2006
A great book for both the knowledgeable and curious reader. Despite much technical observation, it will be understandable for most. Very well illustrated. Informative to the pro and fascinating to the novice. A fine study not only of Rembrandt's methods but of old master paintings in general. The survey text at the beginning gives necessary background for all the detailed studies of individual... more
