| 1. Zeno's Conscience: A Novel |
|
By: Italo Svevo Publisher: Vintage February 04, 2003
I bought this novel because Svevo was often compared along with Proust, Joyce, and Musil (according to the short review inside of Musil's The Man without Qualities). Proust and Joyce are well known, but Musil is not. After reading Musil's The Man without Qualities, which extremely impressed me (for me, it is THE best 20th-century novel), I tried Svevo, because I expected to find another hidden diamond... more

| 2. Zeno's Paradox: Unraveling the Ancient Mystery Behind the Science of Space and Time |
|
By: Joseph Mazur Publisher: Plume March 25, 2008
This is another book written in the same engaging formula, seen before in Mazur's other books. Besides the scientific facts, there is always a human element, and bits of trivia about the people that made these amazing discoveries. A fascinating mix of facts and literature, math and philosophy that draws you into a joyfully thought-provoking read. ... more

| 5. Confessions of Zeno |
|
By: Italo Svevo Publisher: Vintage June 18, 1989
Zeno Cosini is your "typical" guy; a wealthy heir, inept at business endeavors, a reluctant husband with quilt over his infidelity, and addicted to rationalization, compromise, and nicotine. Zeno, undergoing therapy, writes his memoirs at his doctor's advice. The novel is both a serious and a light-hearted self-critique of his life; including his childhood relations with his father, his love affairs... more

| 7. Zeno and the Tortoise: How to Think Like a Philosopher |
|
By: Nicholas Fearn Publisher: Atlantic Monthly Press April 11, 2002
I'm only beginning to get into philosophy.
Overall I'm finding the book to be a good introduction into a number of philosophers basic ideas; however, there are several passages which are incomprehensible. One occurs on page 13 and I blame the author for this one, he could have rewrote it. The chapter on Descartes is unreadable, but I'll assume Descartes may just be too tough for me.more

| 8. The Art of Surfcasting with Lures |
|
By: Zeno Hromin Publisher: ZH Publishing 2007
This book is for persons who are already into surf fishing, but are looking to advance their lure fishing skills beyond the basics. The author is clearly not a professional writer and this book could have benefited from tighter editorial oversight, but the author is obviously hard-bitten and seems to really know his stuff. You won't find much in here on basic casting or how to tie knots. What you... more

| 9. Zeno's Paradoxes |
|
From: Hackett Publishing Company Publisher: Hackett Publishing Company 2001-03
I really enjoyed this book. It's a great survey of the notion of infinity, and the quality of the prose is, for the most part, very good. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in philosophy, mathematics, or the history of thought... more
