| 1. Astonishing X-Men Vol. 1: Gifted |
|
By: Joss Whedon, John Cassaday Publisher: Marvel Comics December 29, 2004
There are just too many X-men titles out there. Not being an X-men fan, this comic book was a revelation on how a new writer could continue to inject interest into a tired genre.
Prof Xavier's sabbatical provides a convenient starting point for a new team of X-men to be formed under the shaky leadership of Cyclops. Perhaps mindful of the recent demise of Marvel Girl (aka The Phoenix)... more

|
By: Ed Brubaker, Michael Choi Publisher: Marvel Comics October 22, 2008
This trade paperback collects issues #495-499 of Uncanny X-Men published by Marvel Comics in 2008. Ed Brubaker, perhaps the best writer in modern comics, wrote all five issues. Mike Choi was the artist for the first four issues and Sonia Oback for the fifth. The post-Messiah CompleX story shows two groups of X-Men: Cyclops and Emma Frost on vacation and later searching for Angel in San Francisco... more

While I read a lot of Marvel titles, I haven't kept up as well as I apparently need to in order to know all the characters in this crossover.
Some positives:
Even though this section is much smaller than my complaints below, I want to be clear that I enjoyed the storyline. The overall plot was well thought out, and I enjoyed reading the Summit notes at the end of the trade... more

| 4. Uncanny X-Men: Manifest Destiny |
|
By: Matt Fraction, Ed Brubaker Publisher: Marvel Comics May 06, 2009
After all the bad things happening to the X-men they finally catch a break and start to enjoy life a little. I like the new character Pixie and seeing old x-men show up looking for home. (Even Queen Ororo). Also the art looks great... more

|
By: Matt Fraction Publisher: Marvel Comics September 23, 2009
I may be biased as Psylocke is my favorite comic book character, but this story is actually pretty interesting besides that. This features another body switch dilemma along with her return to the X-Men series. It also brings in a nice list of villains to entertain readers including Jean Grey's lovely clone, which is actually the main focus of this novel. I particularly enjoyed its buildup and that... more

| 7. Ultimate X-Men: Ultimate Collection, Vol. 1 |
|
By: Mark Millar, Geoff Johns Publisher: Marvel Comics April 12, 2006
This first volume of ultimate x-men is diffenetly an average comic. The storyline is not bad, its ok and the art work is good. The major downside is that it is overpriced. So with the story line, the art, and the price it averages to about 2 stars. ... more

I've never watched Buffy. Ive never seen Angel the only reason I've skimmed through Doll House is because Eliza Dushku and never even heard of FireFly till this year. |
By: Matt Fraction Publisher: Marvel Comics November 11, 2009
So, here we had a big failed chance to return Beast to human, lots of boxes introducing folks we already know every issue, Boring excitement, outdated 90's dialogue straight out of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Original Series (Volume 1) cartoon, and nothing really awesome at all.
Don't get me wrong, I like some Fraction (Iron Fist, Five Fists of Science), but on team books, everyone... more
