| 1. Aetheric Mechanics |
|
By: Warren Ellis, Gianluca Pagliarani Publisher: Avatar Press November 05, 2008
It's not very often that I get to review a graphic novel, so when a friend let me borrow this, I was really excited to tell you all about it.
Aetheric Mechanics takes place in an alternate Earth in which Britain is at war with a place called Ruritania, whose powerful technology is quickly turning the tide of the war in their favor. Doctor Richard Watcham returns from the war front and... more

| 2. Warren Ellis' Scars (New Printing) |
|
By: Warren Ellis, Jacen Burrows Publisher: Avatar Press September 10, 2008
I was hesitant to buy this graphic novel due to it being in B&W. I am so glad I put my hesitations aside. I will warn you that it will leave you feeling disturbed. The story line is great. I was drawn in like a moth to a flame. I soon forgot about the lack of color. The story took over. I read it in one sitting. Disturbingly awesome read. ... more

| 3. Warren Ellis Crecy |
|
By: Warren Ellis, Raulo Caceres Publisher: Avatar Press August 08, 2007
One of the best military history lessons I've ever had and quite enjoyable.
As other have mentioned the language is only for readers mature enough to understand the context, similar to the show Deadwood... more

| 4. Black Summer |
|
By: Warren Ellis, Juan Jose Ryp Publisher: Avatar Press October 08, 2008
Felt this title deserved another review based on the other reviews and the average rating. Black Summer is a quasi-political superhero sci-fi tale of ethics, paramilitary intrigue, and authoritism. The premise (without giving too much away) is a group of idealistic, brilliant, not-always-agreeable minds conceive of advanced scientific research that in turn ends up funded and watchdogged by greater... more

| 5. Anna Mercury Volume 1: The Cutter |
|
By: Warren Ellis Publisher: Avatar Press April 27, 2009
This collects the five issue 2008 Avatar Press creator-owned mini-series from writer Warren Ellis and artist Facundo Percio. Anna Mercury is a British secret agent tasked with preventing New Ataraxia from using a weapon of mass destruction (the titular "Cutter") against Sheol, a neighboring civilization. These combatants are on a parallel Earth that had been disturbed by our planet, and now Mercury... more

| 6. Desolation Jones |
|
By: Warren Ellis Publisher: Wildstorm October 04, 2006
I sat down, opened up the trade and read it in one sitting. Not because I had nothing better to do, but I was caught: hook, line, and sinker by the second page. If you've read Ellis' Crooked Little Vein: A Novel (P.S.) and enjoyed it, then you'll love this tradeback (and vice-versa).
Michael Jones is an ex-British intelligence agent who rebels against "Intel just chewing people up for... more

| 8. Fell Vol. 1: Feral City (v. 1) |
|
By: Warren Ellis Publisher: Image Comics June 06, 2007
I wanted to like this - I really did. I enjoy other titles by the contributors (Ellis, Templesmith), but found this to be a lackluster effort.
In brief - Richard Fell is one of a handful of detectives working in Snowtown, apparently the most run-down city in America. Crime is rampant, and accepted, and citizens have resorted to superstition to protect themselves by spray-painting wards... more

| 9. Planetary Vol. 1: All Over the World and Other Stories |
|
By: Warren Ellis Publisher: WildStorm Productions March 01, 2000
I keep coming back to this extraordinary story by Warren Ellis and John Cassaday. It's the ultimate post-modern comic -- basically a deconstruction of the great superhero mythology that came before it.
The series starts out with solid, almost self-contained stories, but soon it becomes obvious that Ellis is building to some grander story arc. In later issues, he continually shocks the... more

| 10. Warren Ellis' Atmospherics |
|
By: Warren Ellis, Ken Meyer Publisher: Avatar Press July 15, 2002
If you're a Warren Ellis fan, and you've read some of his other Avatar work, you know what to expect. For those that aren't familiar with Ellis's Avatar comics, they tend to be weird, hyperviolent, and, sometimes, underdeveloped. "Atmospherics" is a short read at least, but Ellis's afterward is more fascinating then the story. The artwork isn't on par with what you'd find in a Marvel or DC book, although... more
