| 1. Ultimate Spider-Man (Ultimate Collection, Vol. 1) |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Marvel Comics April 11, 2007
I am a born and bred DC Comics fan. A few years back, some friends kept bugging me to try Ultimate Spider-Man and I kept blowing it off. Finally, I saw this collection of the first few books for a decent price, and it's praise is well earned.
For those that don't know, the Marvel Ultimate Universe sort of re-interprets many of it's popular properties, with Spider-Man being the longest... more

Ultimate spiderman volume 21 is probably the best volume so far. In the previous books we saw young Peter Parker battle against venom and then against carnage. SUPRISE their both back. | 6. Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1: Power and Responsibility |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Marvel Comics August 19, 2009
With their Ultimate line of comics, Marvel has been attempting something they should have tried years earlier: a line of all-ages comics that newbies can jump into without having to catch up on years of story continuity. I think it's fair to say the line has exceeded the company's original goals for it - if I'm not mistaken, several of the titles in Ultimate line have outsold their original counterparts... more

| 7. Ultimate Spider-Man, Vol. 10 |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis, Stuart Immonen Publisher: Marvel Comics March 18, 2009
Bendis continues to deliver the goods. His remains the most consistently entertaining and true-to-character Spider-Man. This collection is a little lighter, and a little more fun, than the dramatic stories that bookend it (War of the Symbiotes and the Clone Saga)... more

| 8. Ultimate Spider-Man, Vol. 20: Ultimate Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Marvel Comics September 17, 2008
When I was little, I used to watch the 80's cartoon "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends." So when I saw the title to TPB #20, I was so hoping that Bendis was going to create some kind of throwback, one-off substory that would give us a quick shot of the 80's cartoon in Ultimate form.
No such luck. As you've probably read from other reviewers, #20 focuses mainly on Pete's angst-filled... more

| 9. Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 4: Legacy |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Bagley Publisher: Marvel Comics November 01, 2002
Legacy is the best yet I have read of the series. When the new Green Goblin was first presented to me, I felt a little skeptical, but they have really blown me away with the gravity of this character. Norman Osborn is an evil evil villain, and Spider-man has scary consequences from now on. Legacy definately carried on the series and made me an Ultimate Spider-man collector.
Other great... more

| 10. Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 5: Public Scrutiny |
|
By: Brian Michael Bendis Publisher: Marvel Comics January 01, 2003
I read about 20-30 graphic novels before sitting down and reading this series. I gotta say that I'm extremely impressed. Bendis is one of the most talented writers in the medium I've seen so far. This whole series has carried itself so well this far. I hate to see it go bad but I really have faith, since in this volume he takes ideas unknown to spidey fans and webs them into fascinating panels... more
