"Thor, v.1" Written by J. Michael Straczynski Illustrated by Olivier Coipel (Marvel Comics, 2008) --------------------------------------- Although it took me a while to get over the disappointment that Marvel didn't stick to their guns with the Big Event-Death Of Thor storyline from a while back, once I got into it, this was a pretty fun series. The new scenario -- Thor... more

| 2. Thor, Vol. 3 |
|
By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics February 17, 2010
J. Michael Straczynski came onto "Thor" with the launch of the current volume (after twelve issues renumbered to continue the combined numberings of all previous volumes), and now, after 16 issues, it concludes in this volume, which collects issues 601-603 and the "Defining Moments" special (which is effectively #604). The previous two volumes were generally of good quality, albeit with flaws, and... more

| 3. Thor, Vol. 2 |
|
By: J. Michael Straczynski Publisher: Marvel Comics September 09, 2009
I recently got into Thor and I must say, it is a good time to start. The pencilling and coloring is great, the art really jumps off the pages and is exactly what I would imagine the denizens of Asgard to look like. The writing is also spectacular, from the misguided nobility of Balder, to the machinations of Loki to the heroic deeds of Thor. This collection is a must have for any comic fan... more

| 4. Thor: Ages of Thunder |
|
By: Matt Fraction Publisher: Marvel Comics January 13, 2010
The strenght of this book is in the art.. Every single page is absolutely stunning, and for the art alone, this book gets a passing grade. The writing i a little more hit-and-miss (which is why it gets 4 stars), but overall it's a decent story that I don't think you'll regret buying. It should also be noted, that the book can be read with no prior knowledge about Thor, which I appreciate... more

| 6. Avengers Disassembled: Thor |

By: Michael Avon Oeming, Andrea Divito Publisher: Marvel Comics December 15, 2004
I wish to heaven that I had listened to the negative reviews. This is a terribly executed story. I know, it's a Thor story about Ragnarok, which by all rights ought to be totally awesome. After all, Thor is at his best in stories set in Asgard, with the other gods. So the epic battle at the end of the world ought to be pretty sweet.
Well, there are no epic battles in this book. ... more

| 7. Thor By Dan Jurgens & John Romita Jr. Volume 1 TPB (Marvel Comics Heroes Return) |
|
By: Dan Jurgens, Howard Mackie, John Romita Jr. Publisher: Marvel Comics October 21, 2009
Dan Jurgens run on Thor in my opinion , is the best run on the series. better than Simonson on par with Lee and Kirby. nowadays runs on comics last only 6 to 12 issues in most cases. Jurgens run lasted over 70. in this series we see a new human counterpart the death of Odin and eventually thor taking over and ruling earth. and the build up is very epic. this should be on every comic lovers shelf... more

|
By: Walter Simonson Publisher: Marvel Comics June 17, 2009
There are many reasons as to why Walter Simonson has long been considered the high point of the grade curve - all pointed to in other reviews. It is enough to know that the entire Simonson Thor Visionaries set is all the discerning need(s) to own within the Marvel Thor franchise. ... more

| 9. Secret Invasion: Thor |
|
By: Matt Fraction Publisher: Marvel Comics April 22, 2009
J. Michael Stracynski has brought Marvel's resident god of thunder to new heights. This trade paperback "Thor: Secret Invasion" is a spin-off 3 issue mini-series from another mini-series; Marvel's "Secret Invasion". The collection presents an interesting premise that expresses an idea that the alien shape-shifting skrull empire had invaded Earth by impersonating a good number of superhuman heroes-... more
